Adorn: Furniture at Scale and the Version Gap
Adorn is a furniture mod of unusual size, and its two builds are very far apart. This guide covers what it contains and why the version you pick matters more here than almost anywhere else.
The 1.21.1 build is nearly 70 percent larger
Crafting runs 1,722 recipes on 1.21.1 against 1,014 on 1.20.1. Stonecutting follows the same pattern — 517 against 376.
That is the largest version gap of any mod on this wiki. Roughly 700 crafting recipes and 140 stonecutting recipes exist only on the newer line. If you are furnishing a build and have a choice of version, this one is not close.
1,623 blocks and 11 items
Adorn ships 1,634 pages of which all but eleven are blocks. There are no tools, no equipment, and essentially nothing to carry — the eleven items exist to support the furniture rather than to be used on their own.
For comparison, 1,722 crafting recipes against 1,623 blocks means slightly more than one recipe per block: most pieces have exactly one way to make them, with the stonecutter offering a second route for the stone-based ones.
Stonecutting is the shortcut
517 stonecutting recipes cover roughly a third of the block list. For stone, brick and concrete furniture, cutting is faster than crafting and avoids re-gathering ingredients for each variant. As with any large decoration mod, keeping a stonecutter on site is the single biggest time saver.
There is a small drinks system
Two categories break the pattern: Brewing with 4 recipes and Brewing From Fluid with 2, identical on both builds. Six recipes in a mod of seventeen hundred is a rounding error, but it is the only part of Adorn that does something rather than decorating, so it is easy to miss entirely.
No structures, no progression
Adorn generates no worldgen structures and gates nothing. Every piece is available as soon as you have its material, which makes the mod a palette rather than a tech tree — and makes the version choice the only real decision.
Where to start
Pick a material before you pick a piece. Adorn's catalogue is organised by what a thing is made of far more than by what room it belongs in, so learning the recipe shape for one wood or stone teaches you its entire family.
