Adorn Stonecutting and the Brewing System
This guide covers Adorn's two secondary systems — the stonecutter route through its stone furniture, and the six recipes that make it more than a decoration mod.
Stonecutting is a third of the catalogue
517 stonecutting recipes on 1.21.1, 376 on 1.20.1. Against 1,722 crafting recipes that is roughly a third of the mod reachable by cutting rather than assembling.
The practical rule: anything made of stone, brick or concrete can be converted between variants directly. Anything wooden cannot — those go through a crafting grid, one recipe per piece per wood.
That asymmetry is the single most useful thing to know about building with Adorn. Choose your wood before you furnish, because changing it later means recrafting; choose your stone freely, because changing it costs a click.
The version gap applies here too
517 against 376 is a difference of 141 stonecutting recipes. Combined with the 708-recipe gap in crafting, the newer build carries roughly 850 recipes the older one does not.
Six recipes that actually do something
Two categories break the decoration pattern, and both are identical on either build:
- Brewing — 4 recipes
- Brewing From Fluid — 2 recipes
Six recipes out of more than two thousand is easy to miss entirely, and they are the only part of Adorn that is used rather than placed. In a mod of 1,623 blocks and 11 items, these are where several of those eleven items come from.
Eleven items in context
The item list is tiny because furniture is placed, not carried. What items exist mostly serve the brewing pair or act as components — there are no tools, no equipment and nothing that interacts with another mod's systems.
No worldgen, no gating
Adorn generates no structures and unlocks nothing. Every piece is available from the first crafting table given its material, so the mod is a palette rather than a progression.
How to plan a room
Work material-first. Adorn's catalogue repeats each furniture shape across every supported material, so the fastest path is to pick the wood and stone for a space, then read only those two families rather than browsing 1,623 blocks.
