Understanding Loot Modifiers in Advanced Loot Info

guide

Advanced Loot Info breaks a loot table down into the pieces that decide what actually appears in a container, on a mob, or in your hands. Two of those pieces matter most when you read the interface: conditions, which are listed under a Predicates section, and functions, which are listed under a Modifiers section. Conditions decide whether an entry is allowed to produce anything at all; modifiers decide what happens to the item once it has been produced. Everything below describes how to read and operate those parts through the mod's interface and hotkeys.

Reading the Two Sections

When you open a loot table, look for the Predicates heading and the Modifiers heading. Anything under Predicates is a test that must pass for the entry to survive. Anything under Modifiers is a change applied to the resulting item. Some entries carry a modified item label, which means the item shown is not the raw drop — it has been altered dynamically by the modifiers attached to it.

Modifiers That Change an Item

These appear under Modifiers and describe transformations applied to the drop.

  • Attribute Modifier: attaches an attribute change to the item. Related readouts include item attribute modifiers and the Attribute Modifiers: label.
  • Stored Enchantments: the item arrives carrying enchantments. Related entries include Enchant With Levels:, Enchanted Count Increase:, and Random Chance With Enchanted Bonus:.
  • Firework Explosion: the item is a firework with a defined burst. The related label is item firework explosion and Set Firework Explosion:.
  • Set Banner Pattern:, Set Custom Model Data:, Set Ominous Bottle Amplifier:, Set Writable Book Pages:, and Set Written Book Pages: each rewrite a specific part of the item's data.
  • Using Converts To: the item turns into something else when used.
  • Can Item Perform Ability: and Can Tool Perform Action: gate whether the item is permitted to do a particular thing.

Modifiers That Choose What Drops

Some modifiers control selection rather than item data. random trade selection picks among a set of trades. alternatives takes the first entry that succeeds. sequence works through entries in order and stops at the first failure. A separate option selects every entry, and another selects a single random entry. Dynamic block-specific drops are handled the same way, through these selection modifiers.

Conditions You Will See Under Predicates

Conditions are the checks that decide whether an entry is eligible. Common ones include:

  • Enchantment Active Check:, Enchantment Active Check:-style gating, and Unenchanted Chance: for enchantment-driven outcomes.
  • Random Chance With Enchanted Bonus: for probability that shifts with enchantment level.
  • Block State Property:, Block Entity Type:, Correct For Drops:, Default Mining Speed:, Stepping on Location:, and Position: / Offset: with X:, Y:, and Z: readouts.
  • Distance to Player:, Last Damage Player, Damage Source Properties:, Entity Properties:, Entity Sub Predicate:, Match Attacker Custom:, Match Direct Attacker Custom:, Match Entity Custom:, Match Player Custom:, Match Equipment Slot:, and Match Any Inventory Slot:.
  • Min Ticks In Hive:, Resolution Context:, Skip Known Structures:, and Survives Explosion.

If a condition fails, the entry is skipped. If it passes, the modifiers run.

Operating the Interface

Open the loot table you want to inspect through the mod's interface. Use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to open the panel, then use the corresponding hotkey to close it. Navigate entries with the corresponding hotkeys for moving up and down, and expand a Predicates or Modifiers group with the corresponding hotkey for expanding. If a field reads Detail Not Available, the mod has no further breakdown for that entry — move on rather than guessing. Named tables you can browse include chest tables such as Abandoned Mineshaft Chest, Ancient City Chest, Bastion Treasure Chest, Buried Treasure Chest, End City Treasure Chest, Woodland Mansion Chest, and the many Village chest tables, plus Chamber Dispensers, Corridor Dispensers, Hero of the Village Loot, and the trial chamber spawner tables.
