AdventureZ Creatures: Hostile and Passive Mobs
This guide details all new creatures introduced by AdventureZ, including both hostile and passive mobs.
Hostile Mobs
Amethyst Golem
The Amethyst Golem resides within geodes. It becomes enraged if players destroy amethyst blocks.
Blaze Guardian
The Blaze Guardian defends nether fortresses. It possesses surrounding shields that can be destroyed. This creature performs a flame explosion attack. Its presence prevents Blaze Spawners from functioning.
Necromancer
The Necromancer inhabits nether fortresses. It uses dark magic to summon Wither Puppets to protect itself.
Wither Puppet
Wither Puppets are controlled by a Necromancer. They inflict the Wither effect on enemies. Defeating the Necromancer will destroy the Wither Puppets.
Soul Reaper
The Soul Reaper is a formidable foe found in soul sand valleys. It attacks with withered arrows or a netherite sword. Soul Reapers typically ride Nightmares for faster movement.
Summoner
The Summoner appears unexpectedly during storms. It utilizes various spells and summons Vanguards during combat.
Vanguard
Vanguards defend their Summoner and engage enemies. They can parry incoming attacks with their shields.
Passive Mobs
Nightmare
The Nightmare carries a Soul Reaper through the soul sand valleys. Its rider has darkened its soul, and it can still be tamed.
Where to expect them
The Nether carries most of this roster. Fortresses hold both the Blaze Guardian, whose presence stops nearby Blaze Spawners working, and the Necromancer with its escort of Wither Puppets. Soul sand valleys are Soul Reaper and Nightmare country. Amethyst geodes hide the Amethyst Golem, which ignores you until you start breaking the amethyst around it.
The Summoner is the only one of them you will meet in the Overworld, and only while a storm is running, which makes it the single mob here you cannot go looking for on demand.
A drop worth keeping
The
Piglin Flag that the Piglin Beast leaves behind is more useful than it looks: placed down, it settles piglins who come near it. It needs two minutes to charge between uses, so treat it as an escape plan rather than a permanent truce.
Fighting them
Three of these have a defence you have to work through rather than out-damage. The Blaze Guardian is ringed by shields that must be broken before it takes proper damage, and it answers with a flame explosion. The Necromancer keeps summoning Wither Puppets, so kill the summoner and its puppets fall with it rather than clearing them one at a time. Vanguards parry with their shields, which makes them a poor first target while their Summoner is still casting.
