Drawer Basics

The Oak Drawer, Dark Oak Drawer, Mangrove Drawer, Acacia Drawer, Birch Drawer, and Cherry Drawer are storage blocks from the Another Furniture mod. Each drawer acts as a compact container for stashing items, and they are built to match the wood type they are named after, letting you keep storage looking consistent with your build style.

All drawers share the same basic crafting pattern. You need six planks of the matching wood type, two slabs of that same wood type, and one stick. The planks fill the outer edges of the crafting grid, the slabs sit in the middle row, and the stick goes in the center square. This recipe produces one drawer of the corresponding wood.

For example, to craft an Oak Drawer, place Oak Planks in the left and right columns, Oak Slabs in the middle row, and a Stick in the center. The same layout applies to every other drawer, just swap in the correct planks and slabs: Dark Oak for the Dark Oak Drawer, Mangrove for the Mangrove Drawer, Acacia for the Acacia Drawer, Birch for the Birch Drawer, and Cherry for the Cherry Drawer.

Using Drawers for Storage

Place a drawer against a wall or on top of a surface, then right-click it to open its inventory. You can store stacks of items inside, much like a chest or barrel, but the drawer’s slim profile makes it easier to fit into tight spaces or line up along a wall without taking up too much room.

Because each drawer is tied to a specific wood type, you can mix and match them to create labeled sections in a storage room. For instance, use a row of Birch Drawers for one category of items and a row of Cherry Drawers for another, so you can tell at a glance which drawer holds what. The visual difference between wood types helps with quick identification without needing signs.

Placement and Arrangement

Drawers are full blocks, so they occupy a single block space. You can place them on floors, tables, or shelves, and they will attach to adjacent surfaces like other solid blocks. For a clean look, place several drawers side by side to form a long cabinet. You can also stack them vertically to build a tall storage unit.

Since the recipe uses slabs, you will need to craft slabs from planks first if you do not have them on hand. Remember that the slab type must match the drawer type—using an Oak Slab with Cherry Planks will not produce a Cherry Drawer.

Choosing the Right Drawer

Pick the drawer that matches the wood you are already using in your base. If you have a dark-themed room, Dark Oak Drawers will blend in naturally. For a bright, modern interior, Birch Drawers or Cherry Drawers may fit better. The Acacia Drawer offers a warm orange tone, while the Mangrove Drawer gives a reddish look. The Oak Drawer is the most neutral option and works well in almost any setting.

All six drawers function identically, so the choice is purely about appearance and matching your existing décor. There is no difference in storage capacity or behavior between the wood types, so you can freely mix them if you prefer a patchwork style.

Practical Storage Tips

Use drawers for frequently accessed items like tools, food, or building materials, since they are quick to open and close.
Place drawers at waist height for easy access, or line them along the bottom of a wall for a built-in feel.
