Biomes and Structures to Explore in Not Enough Dinosaurs
Biomes and structures to explore in Not Enough Dinosaurs shape where you should travel and what you can expect to find once you arrive. The mod adds its own biome and a distinctive structure, and knowing where each one appears helps you plan a route instead of wandering blindly.
Cretaceous Swamp
The Cretaceous Swamp is a temperate biome, sitting at a temperature of 0.5. That places it in the same climate band as many ordinary temperate biomes, so it will not stand out because of extreme heat or cold.
What makes the swamp worth visiting is its wildlife. Spinosaurus spawns there as a creature, giving the biome a signature dinosaur to look for. The swamp is also home to a monster spawn: Dimetrodon. If you are hunting either of these, the Cretaceous Swamp is the place to search.
Fight Club
The Fight Club is the mod's structure to seek out. It generates in four different biome types: plains, jungle, savanna, and desert. That spread means you have a good chance of running into one while exploring common surface biomes rather than needing to find a single rare environment.
Placement follows strict spacing rules. The game makes one attempt to place a Fight Club per 501x501 chunk region, and each one must be at least 500 chunks away from another. In practice, this means Fight Clubs are spread thin across the landscape. You will not find them clustered together, and a long journey may pass through several regions before you locate one. When you do find a Fight Club, expect it to be isolated from any other.
Crafting Ties to Exploration
Several recipes give you reasons to bring materials back from your travels. The mod's crafting system contains 24 recipes in total, and a number of them connect directly to the creatures and items you gather while exploring.
Armor sets are a major category. Archelon Shell Armor pieces are made from
Archelon Shell Shard in varying amounts: four for boots, five for a helmet, seven for leggings, and eight for a chestplate. Edmontonia Armor follows the same pattern using
Edmontonia Armor Plate, with the same counts for each slot.
Other recipes turn dinosaur and creature materials into useful gear:

Planning Your Route
Start by targeting plains, jungle, savanna, or desert if you want to find a Fight Club, and accept that the spacing rules mean patience is required. For Spinosaurus and Dimetrodon, head to the temperate Cretaceous Swamp. Gather shells, plates, feathers, fossils, and other creature drops along the way, since many of them feed directly into the mod's 24 crafting recipes.
