Archon: Mana, the Channeler and Five Elemental Bosses

guide

Archon runs on a mana pool shown on your screen and five bosses you summon rather than find. This guide covers both systems.

Mana is a visible resource

A counter in the corner of the screen tracks current and maximum mana. Two things raise the ceiling:

  • Mana Boost — a status effect adding 50 maximum mana per level, applied by Mana Catalysts
  • Mana Catalysts — blocks that raise the maximum mana of every player in a radius, with each catalyst having a different range

Because catalysts work on an area rather than on a person, they reward building a base around them instead of carrying something.

Against that, the Obstructed effect blocks mana use entirely. It is inflicted by Mana Leeches — weak, fast creatures that spawn inside Spires — so the mod has a dedicated counter to its own resource.

Spending mana more slowly

The Arcane enchantment cuts a weapon's mana cost by 10% per level, so Arcane II is a 20% reduction. In a mod where mana is the limiting factor, that scales better than raw damage.

The Channeler is the crafting system

The Channeler channels mana into blocks to produce specific items, and the mod backs it with 21 Channeling recipes. Alongside it sits a Scripting category with 26 recipes and an ordinary 43-recipe crafting list.

Between channeling and scripting, 47 of the mod's recipes need mana rather than a bench.

The five bosses

Each is elemental, each is summoned at a Summoning Pedestal by right-clicking with the right items, and each drops a distinct token:

  • Tar — Earth, and explicitly the weakest; drops a Terranite Stone
  • Ayla — Sky, attacks with wind; drops an Angelic Star
  • Leven — Water, varied attacks; drops a Wave Crystal
  • Inigo — Fire, high-damage lasers; drops a Charred Eye
  • Null — End, and the most powerful of the five; drops a Soulless Eye

Start with Tar and finish with Null — the mod states the order for you.

Two structures

Spires are where Mana Leeches spawn, so they are both a threat and the place to learn how Obstructed works.
