Ars Ocultas: Bridging Ars Nouveau and Occultism
Ars Ocultas connects two magic mods that otherwise ignore each other. This guide covers what it adds and what it needs.
It borrows every recipe type it uses
The mod registers no recipe category of its own. All five of its recipes belong to other mods:
- Enchanting Apparatus — 2 recipes on 1.21.1, 1 on 1.20.1 (Ars Nouveau)
- Imbuement Chamber — 2 recipes on both (Ars Nouveau)
- Ritual — 1 recipe on both (Occultism)
That is the clearest possible definition of a bridge mod. Four of the five recipes run on Ars Nouveau equipment and the fifth on Occultism's, so both parent mods are required. With only one installed, most of this does nothing.
Spirit jars are the headline
Occultism spirits can be kept inside containment jars, where they keep their original behaviour and do not decay — which is what makes them usable for automation rather than as a temporary effect.
A spirit jar also picks up items automatically within a 7x7 area, so it is a collection device as much as a container.
Transmutation goes both ways
The mod adds a conversion between silver and gold in either direction. That is a small addition with a real effect in a pack running both Occultism (which uses silver heavily) and other mods that want gold — surplus in one metal stops being dead weight.
An alternate gem recipe
A
Spirit Attuned Gem recipe exists specifically as an alternative for when diamonds are scarce. Recipes written as alternates rather than as new content are a good sign of a bridge mod doing its job: it is smoothing a pinch point rather than adding a tier.
Scale
1 page, 1 block, no items, 5 recipes, no structures. By registry count this is one of the smallest mods on this wiki, and that is expected — a bridge adds connections, not content.
Versions
2.6.1 on NeoForge for 1.21.1 and 1.2.2 on Forge for 1.20.1, with one extra enchanting apparatus recipe on the newer line.
Before installing
Confirm both Ars Nouveau and Occultism are present. This wiki covers both, and neither is optional here.
