Axiom Mod Guide: Capabilities, Tools, and Configuration
Axiom is a Minecraft utility mod operated entirely through its on-screen interface and hotkeys rather than crafting recipes. Its capabilities range from removing build limits to terraforming tools, and most actions are performed by clicking, scrolling, or holding mouse buttons while a tool or mode is active.
Core Capabilities
Several toggleable capabilities change how building behaves. Infinite Reach removes the distance limit on placing and breaking blocks; you can optionally set a numeric block limit on it, or set the limit to infinity. Force Place lets you put blocks in mid-air and bypass normal placement restrictions. Replace Mode changes what happens when you right-click an existing block: instead of simply overwriting it, the game keeps the original block's type and applies your held block's material to it — for example, using oak planks on stairs produces oak stairs. Related toggles include preventing neighbor updates when placing or breaking, preventing physical triggers like pressure plates, and allowing flight to pass through solid blocks.
Flight has its own settings. You can adjust flight momentum (how much drift carries your movement), choose the direction WASD moves you while flying, force an enhanced flight mode, use vanilla movement controls, and enable or disable flight speed adjustment. A separate flight speed can be used for the Editor UI versus in-game, and you can sync those options with the Editor UI so it otherwise uses zero momentum and camera-based direction.
Symmetry is available while building, with nudge variants bound to modifier combinations. A configurable distance deactivates symmetry so you don't accidentally edit blocks far away, and an optional icon can appear mid-screen while symmetry is active.
Tools and Selection
The Tools Window is where you pick tools for painting, terraforming, and selecting. The Box Select Tool selects everything between two points: click one point, drag to another, release, adjust with gizmos, then confirm. The Magic Select Tool grabs adjacent blocks of the same type, with a configurable count. The Sculpt Draw Tool pulls terrain based on surface direction, and the Slope Tool draws a slope between two clicked positions.
Selections can be filled, outlined, walled, topped, bottomed, noise-filled, or filled with the nearest non-air block. You can expand or shrink a selection, and shrinking fits it to non-air blocks. Middle-clicking with a builder tool has its own configurable selection behavior. The clipboard holds copied blocks: copy a selection to it, then paste to begin placement. A history window tracks block changes so you can undo and redo — left-click rewinds, right-click inspects a change.
Controls and Interaction
Scrolling performs different actions depending on context: cloning, moving, nudging, smearing, and stacking. Clicking extends or magic-selects. Holding left-click breaks blocks very fast. Right-clicking a block replaces it with your held block. Holding a button often reveals more options. While scrolling, holding the X, Y, or Z key locks movement to that axis. In the search tab, pressing Enter quickly adds the first block to your hotbar, and clicking a hotbar block fills your selection with it. You can swap the functions assigned to left and right click.
Configuration
Axiom Configuration covers flight, symmetry, keybinds, and interface behavior. You can view editor keybinds and all in-game keybinds, show or hide the builder tool slot, show key presses in the corner, and display keybind hints for builder tools and entity manipulation. Visual options include block outlines for collision, structure voids, moving pistons, and invisible blocks, plus full-cube hitboxes, solid fluid hitboxes, biome borders, annotations, and ruler markings. Brightness and liquid opacity can be adjusted. Entity options let you show gizmos for display and marker entities within a configurable range.
Context menu settings include automatically switching to creative, auto-swapping to a hotbar containing a pick-blocked item, and sharing extra hotbars across worlds. Blueprint options include auto-refresh, recursive folder search, and a custom path. Rotation and scaling warn that non-90-degree rotations and non-integer scaling are lossy. The mod also tracks block drops, gravity, farmland trampling, and player invulnerability as gamerule-style toggles.
