Bartering Station: Automating Piglin Trades

guide

Bartering Station automates gold bartering with piglins. This guide covers what it registers.

One block, one recipe

1 page, 1 block, no items, 1 crafting recipe, identical on both builds.

A single recipe producing a single block is the smallest complete shape a functional mod can take. There is nothing to upgrade and nothing else to make.

What the block does

Vanilla bartering requires a player to throw gold at a piglin and pick up what comes back — a manual loop that cannot be automated with vanilla redstone. A bartering station performs that exchange without a player standing there.

That is a meaningful change for anyone running a gold farm, because the bottleneck in vanilla is not gold supply, it is the manual trading step.

Why it registers so little

The mod does not add trade outcomes; it uses the ones vanilla already defines. So there are no new items to register, and its entire footprint is the block that performs the exchange.

Version numbering

v21.1.0 on NeoForge (1.21.1) and v8.0.0 on Forge (1.20.1). As with several mods from the same author, the newer build encodes the Minecraft version in its number, so the numeric gap does not reflect a content difference — both carry the same single recipe.

No structures, no dependency

Nothing generates in the world and no partner mod is required. The station is crafted and placed like any other block.

Where to start

Build a gold supply first. The station removes the manual step from bartering, but it does not create gold — it is a multiplier on a farm you already have rather than a source in itself.

What to expect

A single automation block that closes one specific gap in vanilla. It adds no items, no progression and no terrain, which makes it about as easy to slot into an existing pack as a mod can be.

Why this cannot be done with redstone

Vanilla bartering requires an entity to throw an item and a pickup to follow. Hoppers and droppers can move items, but nothing in vanilla can perform the exchange itself, which is why gold farms end at a pile of gold rather than at the goods.

A single block that closes that loop is the entire mod, and it is why such a small registry has a disproportionate effect on a farm-heavy pack.

Scale

1 page, 1 block, 0 items, 0 structures, 1 crafting recipe, identical on both builds at v21.1.0 (NeoForge, 1.21.1) and v8.0.0 (Forge, 1.20.1).
