BetterEnd Megalake, Oasis and Mushroomland Biomes Guide

guide

BetterEnd adds several temperate End biomes that share a mild climate and a lack of rainfall, including the Megalake, Neon Oasis and Foggy Mushroomland, each with its own atmosphere, resources and mobs. This guide covers what those biomes and their aquatic resources offer.

Shared Climate

Every biome covered here is temperate, with a temperature of 0.5, and none of them experience rain. That combination gives these areas a consistent feel compared to harsher parts of the End.

Megalake and Megalake Grove

The Megalake and its variant, Megalake Grove, are the headline water biomes of this group. Both are temperate with a temperature of 0.5 and no rain.

Monster spawns in both the Megalake and the Megalake Grove are the same:

  • End Slime
  • Enderman

Because the Megalake is built around water, it is the biome to visit when you want aquatic resources. The Megalake Grove shares the same climate and spawn table, so you can expect the same mob pressure while exploring either one.

Neon Oasis

The Neon Oasis is another temperate, rainless biome, with a temperature of 0.5. Its monster spawns are narrower than the Megalake's:

  • Enderman

With only Endermen appearing as monster spawns, the Neon Oasis is a calmer place to gather from its waters than the Megalake, where End Slimes also spawn.

Foggy Mushroomland

The Foggy Mushroomland is temperate as well, at a temperature of 0.5, and receives no rain. Its monster spawns are:

  • End Slime
  • Enderman

Like the Megalake and Megalake Grove, it hosts both End Slimes and Endermen, so bring the same precautions you would use around those mobs.

Two further biomes share the same climate profile and are worth noting alongside the water biomes:

  • Glowing Grasslands — temperate, temperature 0.5, no rain; monster spawns are Enderman
  • Dry Shrubland — temperate, temperature 0.5, no rain; monster spawns are Enderman

Both spawn only Endermen, matching the Neon Oasis.

Aquatic Resources

The Megalake and the other water-bearing biomes in this group are where you go for aquatic resources in BetterEnd. The mod adds many new blocks, including nine wood types and seven new stone types, along with new items such as food sources, tools, armor and weapons. It also introduces mechanics like Infusion Rituals, Anvil Recipes and End tool progression.

BetterEnd uses a custom End world generator, so islands take different shapes, sit at different heights, and contain caves holding unique resources. The sky features purple nebulas and stars, and each biome has its own music, sounds and effects.

Practical Notes

  • All six biomes listed here are temperate at temperature 0.5 and have no rain.
  • Only the Megalake, Megalake Grove and Foggy Mushroomland spawn End Slime alongside Enderman.
  • The Neon Oasis, Glowing Grasslands and Dry Shrubland spawn only Enderman.
  • The Megalake is the primary water biome for aquatic resources; the Neon Oasis also holds water but has a lighter monster spawn table.

Plan your trip around the spawn table: if you want to avoid End Slimes entirely, the Neon Oasis, Glowing Grasslands and Dry Shrubland are the safer picks. If you are heading to the Megalake for its aquatic resources, expect both End Slimes and Endermen to be present.
