Bewitchment: Cauldron Brewing, Rituals and Curses
Bewitchment is a witchcraft mod built on brewing, rituals and curses rather than machines. This guide covers its systems by size and what each one actually does.
The recipe list, by category
Beyond 208 crafting recipes, every system here is bespoke:
- Cauldron Brewing — 48 recipes, the largest specialised category
- Ritual — 25 recipes
- Athame Stripping — 14, and Athame Drop — 7
- Curse — 13 recipes
- Incense — 7, and Oil — 6
- Smelting — 7 across two categories, Blasting — 6, Campfire Cooking — 2, Smoking — 1
Brewing being more than twice the size of any other bespoke system tells you where to spend time first. The cauldron is the mod.
The athame is a tool with two recipe lists
Unusually, one item gets two categories of its own. Athame Stripping covers 14 recipes and Athame Drop another 7 — the blade both alters blocks it is used on and changes what mobs drop when killed with it. Neither is reachable with an ordinary weapon, so the athame is an early priority rather than a curiosity.
Brews do things vanilla potions cannot
The effects the mod brews are genuinely new rather than reskinned vanilla ones:
- Climbing lets the affected scale walls the way spiders do
- Deflection turns arrows back at whoever fired them, and they return faster than they arrived
- Disjunction tries to teleport the target a short distance
- Corrosion strips a flat amount of armour
- Deafened cuts all sound for whoever carries it
There is also a reversal mechanic: a brew made with a demon horn inverts positive effects into their negative counterparts, which turns any beneficial potion into a weapon.
This line is 1.20.1 only
The build is 1.20-10 on Fabric for 1.20.1. There is no 1.21.1 release, so a pack on the newer version cannot include it.
Scale
431 pages across 320 blocks and 111 items, with no worldgen structures — everything here is built or brewed rather than found. The block-heavy split is unusual for a magic mod and reflects how much of the content is altars, candles and ritual furniture rather than carried gear.
