Bewitchment Rituals, Oils and Incense
Bewitchment splits its magic across several small systems that are easy to miss next to the cauldron. This guide covers what each one holds and how they relate.
Four systems beyond brewing
Cauldron Brewing dominates at 48 recipes, but four smaller categories carry distinct content:
- Ritual — 25 recipes
- Curse — 13 recipes
- Incense — 7 recipes
- Oil — 6 recipes
Between them that is 51 recipes, so the non-brewing magic is as large as the brewing side. Treating the cauldron as the whole mod leaves half the content untouched.
Curses are their own category
Thirteen curse recipes sit apart from both brewing and rituals, which means cursing is a distinct act with its own inputs rather than a potion effect applied differently.
Rituals are the set-piece system
At 25 recipes, rituals are the second-largest bespoke category. They are also why the mod ships 320 blocks against only 111 items — ritual circles, altars and candles are placed, not carried, and that block-heavy ratio is the clearest structural sign of how this mod is meant to be played.
The athame threads through everything
The blade has two recipe categories of its own — Athame Stripping with 14 entries and Athame Drop with 7. It alters blocks it is used on and changes what mobs drop when they die to it, so it is a gathering tool as much as a weapon. Several ingredients elsewhere in the mod are only obtainable through it.
Effects worth knowing
The brews produce effects with no vanilla equivalent: Climbing for scaling walls like a spider, Deflection to send arrows back faster than they came, Disjunction to teleport a target a short way, Corrosion to strip a flat amount of armour, and Deafened to cut a victim's sound.
A demon horn brew inverts positive effects into their negatives, which makes any beneficial potion into an attack.
Cooking is nearly absent
Campfire Cooking holds 2 recipes and Smoking just 1. Bewitchment is not a food mod, and the handful of cooking entries exist to process ingredients rather than to feed you.
