Blood Magic Living Armour: Upgrades and What They Cap At

guide

Living Armour trains as you play rather than being crafted to a fixed tier. This guide covers the upgrades and the hard numbers behind them.

Upgrades have explicit ceilings

Unlike most progression systems, these state where they stop:

  • Body Builder — knockback resistance and bonus health, capping at 100% resistance and 10 half-hearts
  • Brilliance — armour defence, capping at +5 Armour and +8 Toughness
  • Charging Strike — sprinting attacks gain damage and knockback, up to +50%
  • Experienced — mob kills drop more experience, up to 150%

Knowing the caps changes how you train. Once Body Builder reaches full resistance there is no reason to keep feeding it, and the effort is better spent elsewhere.

Upgrades with no stated cap

  • Fierce Strike — melee attacks deal extra damage
  • Dwarven Might — mining speed rises while breaking identical blocks, and past a certain level it grants a Haste buff afterwards
  • Gift of Ignis — fire resistance, where higher levels both last longer and recharge faster

Dwarven Might rewarding *identical* blocks is the detail to plan around: it pays for strip-mining one material rather than for mixed digging.

Two upgrades are structural rather than statistical

  • Socketed adds Curios slots to the armour that hold compatible Blood Magic items
  • Elytra adds an elytra to the armour — and unusually, it is not trained. Its upgrade tome has to be crafted.

The elytra being the exception matters: every other upgrade arrives by doing the thing it improves, so it is easy to assume this one will too.

Downgrades exist

The mod registers 9 Living Downgrade recipes. Upgrades are not purely additive — the system has a way to impose costs, which is why armour that trains itself does not simply become strictly better forever.

Where the armour fits in the mod

Living Armour sits alongside the mod's main benches: the Alchemy Table at 128 recipes, the Arc at 96 and the Hellfire Forge at 89. The armour is trained through play, but the tomes and components that support it come from those blocks.
