Configuring Custom Window Dimensions for Borderless Mode in Borderless Mining

guide

Borderless Mining lets you run Minecraft in a borderless window that behaves like fullscreen, and its configuration screen includes options for controlling the exact size and position of that window. This guide covers the settings that relate to custom window dimensions and how to reach them.

Opening the Configuration

The mod's settings live in the Borderless Mining Configuration screen. Open it through the mod's own interface entry point, then work through the options described below. Everything here is toggled or typed directly in that screen; there is nothing to craft and no in-game item involved.

Turning On Borderless Behaviour

The core switch is Borderless Fullscreen. Its purpose is simple: when Fullscreen is turned on in Minecraft, the game switches to a borderless fullscreen window instead of the usual exclusive fullscreen mode. Turn this option on if you want the borderless behaviour at all — the dimension settings below only matter once borderless mode is active.

There is also a related option, the Fullscreen Resolution option. This adds an entry to the Fullscreen Resolution slider that enables the mod. In other words, instead of only using the configuration screen, you can activate borderless behaviour by picking that entry from the resolution slider. Note that this option is disabled by default on macOS, because macOS already has better native fullscreen support; on other systems this particular option does nothing.

Using Custom Dimensions

Once borderless mode is in play, the Use custom dimensions option is what lets you stop relying on a preset resolution and define the window size yourself. Enable it to take manual control of the window's dimensions rather than accepting whatever the standard fullscreen resolution would give you.

With Use custom dimensions active, you supply the width and height values for the borderless window. This is the setting to adjust when you want the window to match a specific size — for example, a size that fits neatly on your display or one that leaves room around the edges.

Choosing the Coordinate Reference

Position matters as much as size, and the Use monitor-relative coordinates option controls how the window's position is interpreted. When this is enabled, the coordinates you provide are measured relative to the monitor rather than in absolute terms. The accompanying tooltip explains the distinction directly: coordinates are taken relative to the monitor instead of absolute. Turn this on when you want the window placed according to its monitor's own frame of reference; leave it off to use absolute positioning.

A Practical Order of Operations

  • Enable Borderless Fullscreen so the game uses a borderless window when Fullscreen is on.
  • Alternatively, select the mod's entry from the Fullscreen Resolution option slider, keeping in mind that this route is disabled by default on macOS and does nothing on other systems.
  • Turn on Use custom dimensions to define your own window size.
  • Enter the width and height you want for the borderless window.
  • Decide whether Use monitor-relative coordinates should be on, depending on whether you want positioning measured against the monitor or in absolute terms.
  • Adjust and re-check the result in the Borderless Mining Configuration screen until the window sits and scales the way you want.

Quick Reference

  • Borderless Fullscreen — makes Fullscreen open a borderless window.
  • Fullscreen Resolution option — adds a slider entry that enables the mod; disabled by default on macOS, no effect elsewhere.
  • Use custom dimensions — lets you set your own window size.
  • Use monitor-relative coordinates — interprets position relative to the monitor rather than absolutely.

These four settings are the whole toolkit for shaping a borderless window's dimensions and placement. Combine them in the Borderless Mining Configuration screen, and the borderless window will follow the size and position rules you choose.
