Borderless Mining: Enable Borderless Fullscreen and Find Its Settings

guide

Borderless Mining is a small utility mod that changes how fullscreen works in Minecraft. Instead of taking over the whole display in the usual exclusive way, it turns fullscreen into a window that has no border and fills the screen. The game still looks fullscreen, but it behaves like a window, which makes switching between the game and other programs much smoother.

What the Mod Does

The core behaviour is described by the Borderless Fullscreen option. Its tooltip explains that when Fullscreen is turned on, the game switches to a borderless fullscreen window rather than a standard fullscreen mode. In practice this means the display area is filled without a window frame, and the game no longer grabs the screen exclusively.

A second piece of the mod is the Fullscreen Resolution option. The mod adds an entry to the Fullscreen Resolution slider, and choosing that entry is what activates the mod's behaviour. So the mod is not only a toggle — it also hooks into the resolution control that already exists in the game's video settings.

Turning It On

Enabling borderless fullscreen happens through the normal Fullscreen control combined with the resolution option the mod adds.

  • Open the game's video settings.
  • Turn Fullscreen on. With the mod active, this is what triggers the borderless fullscreen window described above.
  • Open the Fullscreen Resolution slider and select the entry the mod adds. That entry is what enables the mod's mode.

If you prefer to bind the action to a key, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu. No default key is assigned by the mod itself.

macOS Note

On macOS the mod's option is turned off from the start. The reason given is that macOS already handles fullscreen well on its own, so the mod's approach is not needed there. On systems other than macOS, this particular option has no effect at all.

Where the Settings Live

The mod's settings are collected in a screen titled Borderless Mining Configuration. This is the place to look when you want to change how the mod behaves. The screen contains the options listed below.

  • Borderless Fullscreen — the main switch. When Fullscreen is turned on, this is what makes the game use a borderless fullscreen window.
  • Use custom dimensions — a toggle for supplying your own size values instead of relying on the defaults.
  • Use monitor-relative coordinates — a toggle that changes how position values are interpreted. Its tooltip states that coordinates are measured from the monitor rather than as absolute values.

The Fullscreen Resolution entry lives with the game's video options rather than inside the configuration screen, since the mod extends the existing slider there.

Quick Reference

  • Want borderless fullscreen? Turn Fullscreen on and pick the mod's entry in the Fullscreen Resolution slider.
  • Want to adjust the mod? Open Borderless Mining Configuration.
  • On macOS? Expect the option to be off, because the system's own fullscreen handling is considered better.
  • On Windows or Linux? The macOS-specific behaviour does not apply to you.

That covers what the mod is, how to switch to its borderless fullscreen mode, and where its options are found.
