Botania Basics: Mystical Flowers to Mana Production

Botania is a tech mod focused on natural magic, centered around creating magical flowers and devices using Mana. It emphasizes ingenuity and thought, and can be played as a standalone mod or with others. The mod features in-world interactions and aims to provide engaging gameplay.

The Lexica Botania

The Lexica Botania is your guide to all botanical knowledge. If you sneak-right click a block with an entry in the book, it will open to that entry. Entries in italics are basic and contain core knowledge essential for playing Botania. The book's title and cover can be customized by renaming it in an Anvil.

Mystical Flowers

Around the world, you will find Mystical Flowers. These flowers glow faintly and sparkle, and come in 16 different colors. You can pluck these flowers for Mystical Petals, which are used to create magical instruments and plants. Right-clicking a petal on the ground will bury it, causing it to emit particles.

Mystical Petals can also be crushed into corresponding Dyes. By mixing Dye with Bone Meal, you can create Floral Fertilizer. This fertilizer will grow more Mystical Flowers in the nearby area. Depending on the soil, Shimmering Mushrooms may also grow.

Wand of the Forest

The Wand of the Forest is a crucial tool for manipulating flowers. It is crafted from Mystical Petals and Livingwood Twigs. The color of the wand depends on the petals used in its creation.

The wand has two modes: Bind Mode and Function Mode.

In Bind Mode, sneak-right click a compatible block to select it, then sneak-right click elsewhere to bind the two blocks.
In Function Mode, the sneak-right click action is freed up for other tasks. Sneak-right clicking the wand in the air switches between these two modes.
In Function Mode, sneak-right clicking a block rotates it around the axis of the side clicked. This can reorient most blocks with directional properties. A Dispenser holding a wand will use it on the block it faces when triggered.

Pure Daisy

The Pure Daisy is a foundational flower. It purifies adjacent Wood and Stone blocks into Livingwood and Livingrock, which are important crafting materials. This process takes about a minute. Livingwood can be further processed into Livingwood Twigs.

The Pure Daisy can also purify other blocks:

Soul Sand becomes Sand
Blaze Mesh becomes Obsidian
Water becomes Snow
Ice becomes Packed Ice
Packed Ice becomes Blue Ice
End Stone becomes Cobbled Deepslate, releasing a small cloud of Ender Air.
