Bountiful Fares: Milling, Fermenting and a Loader Split

guide

Bountiful Fares is a farming and cooking mod with two bespoke systems. This guide covers them and a version difference that removes one entirely.

Two systems of its own

  • Milling — 32 recipes, identical on both builds
  • Fermenting — 13 recipes on 1.21.1, and none at all on 1.20.1

Milling being stable across versions makes it the safe place to start. Fermenting existing only on the newer build is the single biggest content difference between the two lines.

Crafting carries the bulk

269 recipes on 1.21.1 against 226 on 1.20.1. Adding the 43-recipe gap there to the 13 missing fermenting recipes, the newer build is about 56 recipes larger overall.

Stonecutting follows the same direction at 27 against 19.

Cooking is deliberately small

Smelting holds 5 recipes on 1.21.1 (3 on 1.20.1), and campfire cooking and smoking 3 each (1 each on the older line). Nine cooked items on the newer build is a short list for a food mod — most of what you make here comes out of the mill or the crafting grid rather than a heat source.

The loader changes between versions

The 1.21.1 build is 3.0.12 on NeoForge and the 1.20.1 build is 1.2.1 on Fabric. That is not just a version gap, it is a platform gap: a Forge pack on 1.20.1 cannot run this mod at all, and moving between MC lines means changing loader.

The version numbers tell the same story — 3.0.12 against 1.2.1 is two major releases apart.

Blocks and items are balanced

349 pages across 177 blocks and 172 items — almost exactly even, which is what a crop mod looks like: every plant is a block to place and a food to carry.

No worldgen

Bountiful Fares generates no structures. Nothing is found; everything is grown, milled or cooked, so the first move is agricultural.

Where to start

Build the mill. At 32 recipes it is the one system present on both builds, and much of the crafting list depends on what it produces.

Reading the two builds side by side

Counting everything, the 1.21.1 build carries about 352 recipes and the 1.20.1 build about 283. The gap is not spread evenly — it is 43 crafting recipes, 13 fermenting ones that do not exist at all on the older line, and 8 stonecutting.

Milling, at 32 recipes on both, is the only large category that does not move. That makes it the reliable core of the mod regardless of which version a pack runs.

What the block count implies

With 177 blocks and only 27 stonecutting recipes on the newer build, the great majority of this mod's blocks are crops and functional pieces rather than a decorative palette. There is no large variant family to cut between, so a stonecutter is far less useful here than in a building mod.
