Controlling When and How You Bridge in the Bridging Mod
The Bridging Mod's keybinds, crouch requirement, post-bridging delay, and axis limits decide when the mod steps in and which directions it can place blocks. The main switch for the whole system is the Toggle Reacharound Placement action, which turns the core bridging behaviour on or off. This same action is also tied to a keybind in the Controls menu, so you can flip bridging on the fly without opening any menu. When you trigger it, the game confirms the change with a "Toggled Reacharound Placement" message.
Keybinds and the Toggle
The toggle is the primary way to control availability. Rather than holding a modifier, you press the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to switch bridging between active and inactive. Because it is a toggle, one press enables the behaviour and the next disables it. If you prefer bridging to depend on your stance instead of a manual switch, the crouch setting below gives you that option.
Crouch-Only Mode
Only Bridge While Crouching changes the condition under which bridging becomes available. With it enabled, the mod only activates while you are sneaking. This works much like the toggle keybind in that it governs availability, but it ties that availability to your crouch state rather than a button press. The practical effect is that ordinary movement and placement stay untouched until you crouch, at which point bridging can take over.
Post-Bridging Delay
Post-Bridging Delay sets a cooldown between placements. It counts in ticks, where twenty ticks equal one second, and it defines how long you must wait before bridging another block. This directly shapes how fast you can build while holding down your place button. A value of 3 is described as easier to bridge with, while 4 matches vanilla behaviour.
Axis Restrictions
Bridging can be limited to specific directions. The Bridging Axis setting lets you restrict placement to certain axes, and the description notes this can be used to bridge only horizontally in a bedrock-like style. A separate setting, Bridging Axis While Crouching, overrides the main axis behaviour whenever you are sneaking. Its "Same as Usual" option simply copies whatever the standard Bridging Axis is set to, so crouching changes nothing unless you choose otherwise.
Distance Requirements
Three related settings govern how far away a block must be before it qualifies as a bridging target. Minimum Bridging Distance sets the overall threshold. Minimum Horizontal Distance and Minimum Vertical Distance let you tune that threshold separately along each axis, so you can require more or less reach depending on direction.
Related Placement Settings
A few adjacent options interact with these controls. Skip Torch Bridging stops torches from being used by bridging at all, preventing accidental placement. Replace Non-Solid Blocks lets bridging swap out replaceable blocks such as tall grass and water. Align Bridged Slabs improves how slabs and trapdoors behave, aligning them to your level during horizontal bridging and stacking them during vertical bridging. Each of these refines what bridging is allowed to do once it is active, complementing the timing and direction rules above.
