Configuring the Bridging Crosshair, Block Outlines, Outline Colour, and F3 Debug Highlights in Bridging Mod
Bridging Mod's visual feedback and debug display settings let you control what you see while bridging. All of these options live in the mod's config interface, which you open with its hotkey. If the interface refuses to open, you may see a notice reading Config UI Disabled! explaining that the config UI failed to open, and that snapshot users should not report it as a bug.
Reaching the Visual Settings
The config screen groups options under headings with tooltips. The one relevant here is the visual section, described as the place to change how all the indicators look. Related sections cover major mod components, small refinements that aren't required but can improve feel, developer-oriented features that may still be handy, and miscellaneous settings.
The Bridging Crosshair
Show Bridging Crosshair adds arrows around your crosshair while bridging is active. These arrows give a rough indication of the direction your next block will be bridged from: upward, sideways, or downward.
Block Outlines
Show Bridging Block Outline draws an outline, comparable to the vanilla block-breaking outline, whenever bridging is active. It marks the exact spot where your block will be placed.
Show Non-Bridging Block Outline draws an outline at the position where you would normally place a block when bridging isn't in use.
Show Non-Bridging Block Outline when Bridging is enabled ties that non-bridging highlight to the Only Bridge While Crouching setting. When turned on, the non-bridging outline follows those crouch rules and only appears when bridging is actually available to you.
Outline Colour
Bridging Outline Colour sets the colour used by both the bridging and non-bridging outlines. An opacity value of 0.4 is suggested, unless you deliberately want very strong colours.
F3 Debug Highlights
These mirror the outline options but apply while the F3 debug screen is open.
- Show Bridging Block Outline In F3 — the F3 equivalent of the bridging block outline.
- Show Non-Bridging Block Outline in F3 — the F3 equivalent of the non-bridging block outline.
- Show Bridging Block Trail In F3 — lightly outlines every block position that was checked and passed over while searching for a bridging target. It is described as quite distracting.
Related Settings Worth Knowing
A few non-visual options interact with what you see. Toggle Reacharound Placement turns the mod's main bridging behaviour on or off, and it also has a keybind in the Controls menu. Only Bridge While Crouching restricts bridging to when you are sneaking. Bridging Axis limits bridging to certain axes, with a separate Bridging Axis While Crouching override whose "Same as Usual" choice copies the main axis setting. Other options cover minimum bridging distances (overall, horizontal, and vertical), a post-bridging delay measured in ticks, slab and trapdoor alignment, skipping torch bridging, replacing non-solid blocks, how placement positions are calculated, snap strength, and adjacency behaviour.
For any of these, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu if you want a different binding.
