Builder's Delight Decorative Blocks: Gilded Blackstone, Gilded Nether Bricks, Laboratory Blocks, and the Iron Chisel

guide

Builder's Delight decorative blocks let you add polished, high-contrast detail to your builds, and the Iron Chisel is the tool tied to this set. The recipes below cover Gilded Blackstone, Gilded Nether Bricks, Laboratory blocks, and the Iron Chisel itself, along with the exact ingredients each one needs.

Gilded Blackstone

Gilded Blackstone can be made in two different ways, which gives you some flexibility depending on what you already have on hand.

The first option is a shapeless recipe that takes one piece of Gilded Blackstone and returns one piece of Gilded Blackstone. Because the recipe is shapeless, the arrangement of items in the crafting grid does not matter.

The second option is a shaped recipe. It combines four Gold Ingot with one Blackstone to produce one Gilded Blackstone. This is the route to take when you want to create the block from scratch rather than converting existing pieces.

Gilded Nether Bricks

Gilded Nether Bricks use a shaped recipe. You need four quartz from the `#c:gems/quartz` tag plus one Nether Bricks block, and the result is one Gilded Nether Bricks.

Because the quartz requirement is written as a tag rather than a single named item, any item that belongs to the `#c:gems/quartz` tag will work in that slot. Keep that in mind when gathering materials, since it means you are not locked into one specific quartz item.

Laboratory

Laboratory blocks are also made with a shaped recipe. The ingredients are eight Diorite plus one item from the `#c:gems/quartz` tag, and the output is one Laboratory block.

The heavy Diorite cost means this recipe is best planned around a steady supply of diorite. As with Gilded Nether Bricks, the quartz slot accepts anything covered by the `#c:gems/quartz` tag.

Iron Chisel

The Iron Chisel is crafted with a shaped recipe. It requires two items from the `#c:strings` tag, one Iron Ingot, and one item from the `#c:rods/wooden` tag. The result is one Iron Chisel.

Both the string and the rod requirements are tags, so any item matching `#c:strings` or `#c:rods/wooden` can fill those positions. The Iron Ingot is the only fixed, named ingredient in this recipe.

Planning Your Materials

A few patterns are worth noting across this set:

  • Gilded Blackstone is the only block here with two recipes: a shapeless one-to-one conversion and a shaped recipe using four Gold Ingot plus Blackstone.
  • Gilded Nether Bricks and Laboratory both call for quartz through the `#c:gems/quartz` tag, so the same quartz supply can serve both recipes.
  • Laboratory is the most material-heavy recipe in this group, needing eight Diorite per block.
  • The Iron Chisel is the only recipe here that uses the `#c:strings` and `#c:rods/wooden` tags, so its ingredient pool is separate from the quartz-based blocks.

If you are building a set of these decorative blocks together, gather quartz and diorite in bulk first, then add Gold Ingot and Blackstone for gilding and the string, Iron Ingot, and wooden rods for the Iron Chisel. That way every recipe in the group is covered without making repeated trips for materials.
