Butchery Guide to Special Mob Drops, Brewing, and Boss Relics
This guide covers the special resources you can harvest from butchering mobs, how to use them in brewing, and the risky rewards tied to the Wishbone system. Knowing which parts to keep and which to process is key to progressing through the mod’s alchemy and carcass mechanics.
Bat and Bee Byproducts
Butchering bats and bees yields several distinct items that are primarily used in potion brewing.
Bat Wings are dropped when you butcher a bat. Brew one with an awkward potion to create a Slow Falling potion.
Bee Wings come from butchering bees. Like bat wings, they also brew with awkward potions into Slow Falling potions.
Poison Sacs are also obtained from butchering bees. Brewing a poison sac with an awkward potion produces a Poison II potion, giving you a stronger lingering or splash effect than standard poison.
Honey Stomachs drop from butchering bees as well. Instead of brewing, combine a honey stomach with a glass bottle to get a bottle of honey, which serves as a consumable item.
Keep in mind that bees give you multiple distinct resources, so if you need both slow falling and potent poison, you will need to butcher several bees and sort the drops.
Sulfur and Carcass Processing
Sulfur is a critical material for handling carcasses, not for potions directly.
- Raw sulfur is the base form. Place it in a brewing stand with water bottles to create sulfuric acid.
- Sulfuric acid is used on carcasses. When applied, it melts away organic material, leaving only the skeletal remains behind. This is the intended way to strip a carcass down to bones without using a meat grinder.
This process is important if you want to preserve skeletons for further use or for obtaining specific drops that only come from drained remains.
Wishbones and the Magic Wishbone
Wishbones are a special drop tied to chicken carcasses, and they lead to a high-risk, high-reward item.
- To get a
wishbone, right-click a
drained chicken carcass with an empty hand. This action is chance-based. - If you fail, you will receive a
broken wishbone. Grind the broken wishbone in a meat grinder to turn it into bonemeal, which is a useful fertilizer. - If you succeed, you get a normal wishbone. You can then imbue it with magic in a brewing stand. This recipe requires 3 wishbones and 1 Nether Star.
Once you have a
magic wishbone, you can break it to trigger a random event. These events are unpredictable and fall into three categories: good, very good, and bad. The bad outcomes can be extremely destructive, so you must not break the magic wishbone inside your base. Always move far away from any structures or valuable builds before using it.
Practical Tips for Gathering
- For consistent slow falling potions, bats are a reliable source, but bees give you both wings and poison sacs, so choose based on what you need at the moment.
- Always carry glass bottles when hunting bees so you can immediately turn honey stomachs into bottles of honey.
- Save your Nether Star for the wishbone imbuing process; it is the only use listed for this rare drop in this context.
- Do not grind normal wishbones. Only broken wishbones are meant for the meat grinder.
- When you have a magic wishbone, treat it like a dangerous explosive. Use it in an open area, far from your home, and be ready for anything.
