Camera Utils Guide: Zoom Scroll Sensitivity, Sensitivity Blocks, and Zoom Animation Settings
Camera Utils is controlled entirely through its settings interface and hotkeys, and this guide covers the zoom scroll sensitivity controls, the scroll sensitivity blocks option, and the zoom animation settings.
Reaching the Settings
Everything described here lives inside Camera Utils Settings, the mod's own configuration screen. Open it before adjusting anything, since the zoom-related options are grouped there rather than in the standard game options. Once inside, look for the zoom entries and the animation entry.
Zoom Scroll Sensitivity
Zoom Scroll Sensitivity is the control that decides how much your scroll wheel input affects zoom while you are zoomed in. If scrolling feels too aggressive — the zoom jumps further than you want with each notch — lower this value. If it feels sluggish and you have to scroll a lot to change magnification, raise it.
The practical loop is simple:
- Open Camera Utils Settings.
- Find Zoom Scroll Sensitivity.
- Adjust the value, then leave the menu and test the scroll wheel while zoomed.
- Repeat until the scroll response matches how you expect zoom to feel.
There is no separate hotkey required for the adjustment itself; it is a setting, not a toggle. If you prefer to bind a key to a related action, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu.
Scroll Sensitivity Blocks
Scroll Sensitivity Blocks works alongside the sensitivity value above. Where the sensitivity setting governs how strongly scrolling registers, this option deals with the block-based measurement used for scroll sensitivity. Treat the two as a pair: set the sensitivity first to get the overall feel right, then use Scroll Sensitivity Blocks to fine-tune how that sensitivity is expressed in block terms.
As with the other option, change it inside Camera Utils Settings, exit the menu, and test by zooming and scrolling. Adjust in small steps — large jumps make it hard to tell which of the two settings caused the change.
Zoom Animation Settings
Zoom Animation Settings controls the animation behaviour of the zoom rather than its sensitivity. Reach it from the same settings screen. Use it when the transition into or out of zoom does not feel right for you — for example, if you want the zoom movement to behave differently from the default.
The same pattern applies: open Zoom Animation Settings, change the values, then test zoom in and out to judge the result. Because animation and sensitivity are separate concerns, tune them one at a time so you can tell which adjustment produced which effect.
Related Camera Settings
The settings interface also exposes other camera controls that share the same screen, in case you want to configure more than zoom:
- Third Person Camera Preset, shown under the title entry, selects the preset used for the third person view.
- Custom Third Person Camera 1 and Custom Third Person Camera 2 are the two configurable third person cameras.
- Custom Third Person Camera 1 Settings and Custom Third Person Camera 2 Settings hold the options for each of those cameras.
- Third Person Settings groups the third person options.
- Third Person Distance and Third Person Distance Blocks control how far the camera sits from the player, with the distance modifier adjusting that value.
- Cinematic Camera Settings and Cinematic Camera Modifier cover the cinematic camera behaviour.
- Movement Smoothness affects how smooth movement appears.
Quick Reference
- Scroll feel too fast or too slow while zoomed: adjust Zoom Scroll Sensitivity.
- Need finer control over the scroll measurement: adjust Scroll Sensitivity Blocks.
- Zoom transition does not suit you: adjust Zoom Animation Settings.
- All three are found in Camera Utils Settings.
- For any bindable action, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu.
