Cataclysm: Spellbooks Weapon Fusion Guide for Endgame Gear

guide

Weapon Fusion is the process in Cataclysm: Spellbooks that combines two existing items into a single, more powerful endgame item. It is the main path to the mod's strongest weapons and armor, and every recipe consumes both input items to produce one fused result. There are 9 Weapon Fusion recipes in total.

How Fusion Works

Fusion takes two specific items and returns one new item. Both inputs are required, and the output is a distinct piece of gear rather than an upgrade applied to one of the inputs. Because the recipes pair unrelated items — armor with wings, a forge with a sword, a ring with scrap — you should expect to give up both components permanently when you fuse them.

Armor Fusions

Two recipes combine mage armor with Elytra to add flight-capable wings to the chestpiece:

These are the only armor fusions among the known recipes. Each one takes a mage chestpiece and an Elytra, so plan on sourcing an Elytra for every winged robe you want.

Forge Fusion

One recipe upgrades a forge rather than a weapon:

This pairs the Infernal Forge with the Hellrazor sword. The result, the Hellfire Forge, is itself an input in no further recipe listed here, so treat it as a finished product.

Accessory Fusion

One recipe produces a wearable accessory:

This converts a Ring of Recovery into a Mechanical Brace using Mechanical Scrap.

Weapon Fusions

The remaining recipes create weapons, including one two-step chain:

Note the chain: Engineer's Power Glove and Witherite Ingot first produce The Ordeal, and The Ordeal is then fused with a Laser Gatling to make The Subjugator. If The Subjugator is your goal, you need all three components — the glove, the ingot, and the gatling — across the two steps.

Planning Your Fusions

Because every recipe has exactly two fixed inputs, there is no room for substitution. Work backward from the item you want:

Since fusion destroys both inputs, do not fuse an item you still need elsewhere. In particular, hold onto The Ordeal only long enough to combine it with the Laser Gatling if The Subjugator is the final target.
