Classic Pipes Inverted Pipe Variants and Redstone Toggling

guide

Inverted pipe variants that toggle with redstone signals give you a way to reverse a pipe's normal behavior by applying a redstone signal. In Classic Pipes, each inverted variant is a separate craftable block, and the recipes follow a consistent pattern: take the regular pipe and combine it with a Redstone Torch, or build the inverted version from its inverted counterpart plus a specific material. The Networked Recipe Pipe is covered at the end because its recipes differ from the rest.

Inverted Copper Pipe

The Inverted Copper Pipe is the base inverted item pipe and the starting point for several other inverted variants.

The second recipe is the standard conversion: eight regular pipes plus a redstone torch yields eight inverted pipes.

Inverted Advanced Copper Pipe

The Inverted Advanced Copper Pipe is the advanced-tier inverted item pipe.

This gives you two routes: convert an existing advanced pipe with a redstone torch, or upgrade inverted basic pipes using a diamond.

Inverted Copper Fluid Pipe

The Inverted Copper Fluid Pipe is the inverted fluid-handling pipe at the basic tier.

Note the second recipe: it converts inverted item pipes into inverted fluid pipes using honeycomb, rather than starting from a fluid pipe.

Inverted Advanced Copper Fluid Pipe

The Inverted Advanced Copper Fluid Pipe is the top-tier inverted fluid pipe, and it has the most crafting options of any inverted variant.

So you can reach this block by converting an advanced fluid pipe directly, by upgrading an inverted basic fluid pipe with a diamond, or by converting an inverted advanced item pipe with honeycomb. The diamond and honeycomb routes mirror the upgrade paths used elsewhere in the inverted family.

Networked Recipe Pipe

The Networked Recipe Pipe does not use a redstone torch in either of its recipes, so treat it as a separate case from the inverted variants above.

The first recipe builds the pipe from raw materials, while the second converts existing networked routing pipes into networked recipe pipes.

Crafting Patterns Worth Remembering

Across the inverted variants, a few patterns repeat and are worth keeping in mind when you plan crafts:

  • Every inverted variant can be made by combining its non-inverted counterpart with a Redstone Torch.
  • Item-to-fluid conversion within the inverted family uses Honeycomb.
  • Basic-to-advanced upgrading within the inverted family uses Diamond.
  • The Inverted Advanced Copper Fluid Pipe is the only inverted variant reachable through all three of these routes.

If you already have a stock of regular pipes, the redstone torch recipes are usually the simplest path, since they convert eight pipes at a time. If you are working from inverted basic pipes instead, the diamond and honeycomb recipes let you move up to advanced and fluid variants without going back to the non-inverted blocks.
