Client Tweaks Overview: Settings Location and Volume Sliders

guide

Client Tweaks is a utility mod that changes small quality-of-life behaviours around inventory, offhand items, building, and the options screen. Everything it does is handled through its own settings interface and optional hotkeys rather than through crafting or items.

Where the Settings Live

The mod's options are grouped together in its own configuration screen. Open that screen to reach the full list of toggles described below. A few of the options also expose an optional key binding, which you assign yourself in the controls menu — the mod does not ship with a preset key for them.

Volume Sliders Restored to the Options Screen

Two of the mod's additions put controls back onto the standard options screen:

  • Master Volume Slider — restores the overall volume control to that screen.
  • Music Volume Slider — restores the music volume control to that screen.

Both exist purely to cut down on menu navigation when you want to adjust sound levels.

Offhand Item Behaviour

Several settings govern what your offhand is allowed to do:

  • Hide Offhand Item — conceals the item held in your offhand. An optional key binding can switch this on and off.
  • No Offhand Torch At All — stops torches from ever being placed out of the offhand.
  • No Offhand Torch With Block — blocks offhand torch placement while a block is held in the main hand.
  • No Offhand Torch With Food — blocks offhand torch placement while food is held in the main hand.
  • No Offhand Torch With Empty Hand — blocks offhand torch placement when the main hand is empty.
  • Offhand Torch With Tool Only — permits offhand torch placement only when a tool occupies the main hand.
  • Do Not Use Last Torch — keeps the final torch in the offhand from being placed.
  • No Offhand Fireworks With Elytra Unless Airborne — stops offhand firework launches while wearing an Elytra, except during flight.
  • No Offhand Use With Food — stops offhand items from being used while food is held in the main hand.
  • Do Not Use Last Durability (Mending) — stops the final point of durability from being consumed.

First-Person Hand and Shield Display

  • Hide Empty Main Hand — removes the empty main hand from the first-person view.
  • Hide Both Hands — removes both first-person hands. An optional key binding can toggle it.
  • Hide Shield Unless Holding Weapon — only shows your shield when a weapon is in hand.
  • Hide Shield Unless Blocking — only shows your shield while you are actively blocking.

Movement and Interaction Tweaks

  • Disable Step Assist — turns off step assist that other mods have added.
  • Reactive Sprint Key — ends sprinting the moment the sprint key is let go or sprint toggling is switched off.
  • Climb Ladders Automatically — lets you ascend ladders simply by looking up, with no key held.
  • Disable Log Stripping — turns log stripping off.
  • Log Stripping Requires Shift — allows log stripping only while shift is held.
  • Disable Paving with Block in Offhand — stops paving while a block sits in the offhand.
  • Berry Placement Requires Shift — allows sweet berries to be placed only while shift is held.

Building, Mining, and Menu Convenience

  • Pane Building Support — enlarges the hitbox of iron fences and glass panes during placement for easier aiming.
  • Chain Building Support — does the same for chains.
  • Prevent Accidental Mining — guards fragile blocks such as budding amethysts from being mined by mistake.
  • Creative Breaking Support — enlarges the hitbox of random-offset blocks in creative mode so they break faster.
  • No Recipe Book Shifting — stops the recipe book from pushing the inventory around when opened; most useful at smaller GUI scales or larger resolutions.
  • Clear Creative Menu Search — right clicking the creative search bar empties it.
  • Retain Creative Menu Search — keeps creative search text when you return to that tab.
  • Clear Recipe Book Search — right clicking the recipe book search bar empties it.
  • Retain Recipe Book Search — keeps recipe book search text when you reopen it.
  • Navigate to Ghost Ingredients — clicking a ghost ingredient in the crafting grid jumps to it in the recipe book.

Item Lists

Some settings rely on lists you can edit: which items count as torches, which items may place offhand torches when Offhand Torch With Tool Only is active, which items count as weapons or shields for the shield-hiding options, which items count as fireworks, which blocks are protected by Prevent Accidental Mining, and which items count as food for the offhand torch and offhand use options.
