Daycare Pasture Blocks & Breeding Compatibility
Pasture blocks serve as the operational core of Pokémon breeding in Cobbreeding, transforming open grazing pastures into fully functional daycare ranches. By anchoring compatible parent species within pasture boundaries, trainers can establish sustainable breeding environments to raise offspring, cultivate desirable natures, and produce type-specialized eggs.
Setting Up Pasture Breeding
Breeding begins by placing a pasture block within an open, enclosed field. Once the pasture block is placed, trainers interact with the block interface to tether their chosen Pokémon into the surrounding pasture area:
- Tethering parents: Assigning two compatible Pokémon from party or PC storage allows them to roam freely within pasture boundaries.
- The breeding toggle button: Inside the pasture block management screen, a dedicated button labeled Toggle breeding controls pasture activity. Pressing this button toggles daycare functions active or dormant.
- Pasture capacity: Each active pasture block manages tethered Pokémon, with server configurations defining how many active pastures an individual player can maintain simultaneously.
When breeding is active, the pasture block monitors the compatibility and presence of the tethered Pokémon, initiating internal breeding countdowns automatically.
Compatibility and Egg Group Rules
Successful egg production requires that tethered Pokémon share mutual breeding compatibility based on canonical Cobblemon egg groups:
- Shared egg groups: Two Pokémon must belong to at least one matching egg group, with one designated as male and the other as female.
- Ditto versatility: A Ditto can pair with any breedable Pokémon regardless of gender or egg group, producing an egg belonging to the non-Ditto partner evolutionary line.
- Incompatible groups: Species belonging to the undiscovered egg group, including legendary creatures, mythical species, and baby Pokémon, cannot produce eggs under normal pasture conditions.
If two tethered Pokémon do not share a common egg group or valid gender pairing, the pasture will remain peaceful without generating an egg.
Egg Appearance and Physical Collection
When two compatible Pokémon remain tethered in an active pasture through several minutes of activity, an egg will be produced:
- Visual nest deposit: When breeding conditions complete, a physical egg model visually appears nestled at the lower base of the pasture block.
- Manual collection: Approaching the pasture block and right-clicking on it allows trainers to pick up the newly generated
Pokemon Egg directly into their active player inventory. - Internal pasture inventory: The pasture block contains an internal buffer inventory designed to hold eggs safely until collected by trainers.
If trainers leave pasture grounds unattended, additional eggs can accumulate up to the pasture block internal inventory limit.
Automated Extraction with Hoppers
For large-scale daycare facilities, Cobbreeding supports automated egg extraction through standard vanilla logistics:
- Hopper placement: Placing a hopper directly beneath the pasture block connects to its internal inventory slots.
- Automatic extraction: Whenever a new egg is generated and placed at the base of the pasture block, the underlying hopper pulls the egg downward automatically.
- Conveyor routing: Extracted eggs can be routed through hopper lines, water streams, or dropper columns into sorting chests, bulk incubators, or hatching preparation rooms.
Automated extraction ensures that pastures never stall due to reaching maximum inventory limits, allowing long-term ranching operations to run smoothly.
Managing Neuter Status in Summary
To prevent specific high-value battle Pokémon from participating in unintended breeding while tethered in communal pastures, trainers can manage their reproductive status individually:
- The summary toggle: Opening the Pokémon Summary interface reveals a dedicated neuter toggle button available exclusively to the original trainer.
- Preventing breeding: Clicking this toggle updates the Pokémon metadata, marking it as neutered and preventing it from producing eggs in any pasture.
- Reversing status: The original trainer can toggle the setting back at any time, restoring full daycare breeding eligibility whenever desired.
