Compound V Settings and Options: What You Can Actually Configure
Compound V ships with no in-game configuration screen, no config file of tunable numbers, and no options menu of its own — the only "setting" the mod gives you is the recipe that converts
Compound V into
Anti-V. That is the honest answer, and it matters, because most players searching for Compound V settings are looking for a difficulty slider or a power toggle that does not exist.
What the mod actually exposes
The mod's entire configurable surface is a single crafting conversion. There is one recipe in the mod, and it runs like this:
Compound V +
Fermented Spider Eye +
Glistering Melon Slice produces
Anti-V
That is the whole list. Nothing in the mod reads a config value, so there is no file to open, no line to edit, and no reload command to run afterward. If you came here expecting to change how long a dose lasts, how strong it is, or which mobs it affects, the mod does not offer those dials.
The one thing you can change: turning Compound V off
Because
Anti-V is crafted from
Compound V, the practical way to "configure" the mod's effect on your world is to brew the counter to it. The recipe is deliberately cheap in shape — three ingredients, no shaped grid pattern to memorise — which means the answer to an unwanted Compound V effect is a crafting table, not a settings file.
Gather the pieces:
Compound V, the item you are trying to neutralise
Fermented Spider Eye, made in vanilla Minecraft by combining a
Spider Eye with a
Brown Mushroom and
Sugar
Glistering Melon Slice, made in vanilla Minecraft from
Melon Slice surrounded by eight
Gold Nugget
Both of the vanilla components are ordinary brewing-adjacent items you likely already have if you keep a
Brewing Stand around. The
Fermented Spider Eye in particular is a staple of any potion setup, so a player who has been experimenting with
Compound V probably has one in a chest already.
Why there is no settings menu
Mods get configuration screens when their author wants players to tune balance without editing code. Compound V's design puts that decision in the crafting grid instead: rather than a slider for "how strong," it gives you a second item that undoes the first. That is a deliberate and common pattern in smaller mods, and it means the mod's balance is fixed at the version you installed.
The practical consequence: if you want different behaviour from
Compound V, you change the mod version or you don't install it. You do not open a config.
What this means for a server
On a multiplayer server, the absence of a config file cuts both ways.
- You cannot globally disable
Compound V by flipping a setting. You can only remove the mod, or rely on players crafting
Anti-V themselves. - You cannot tune the mod per-world or per-dimension, because there is nothing to tune.
- You can still control access the ordinary way: restrict who can obtain
Compound V in the first place, and keep the
Anti-V ingredients available to everyone else.
If your server policy is "Compound V allowed but reversible," the
Anti-V recipe is your entire toolkit, and it is enough — any player who wants out can craft their way out, provided they can get a
Fermented Spider Eye and a
Glistering Melon Slice.
Common mistakes
The most frequent error is assuming a missing config means a broken install. It does not. A mod with one recipe and no options is functioning exactly as written; there is simply nothing to configure.
The second mistake is hunting for a keybind or a command to toggle Compound V effects. The facts do not describe any such command, and the mod's only documented interaction is the crafting recipe above.
The third is forgetting that
Anti-V is a crafted item, not a consumed setting. It is made at a
Crafting Table like any other recipe, and it needs all three ingredients present at once — you cannot substitute one out.
The short version
Compound V has one recipe and no options.
Compound V plus
Fermented Spider Eye plus
Glistering Melon Slice gives you
Anti-V, and that conversion is the only lever the mod hands you. Plan your world or your server around that single fact rather than around a settings screen that was never built.
