Compound V Powers and How They Work

guide

Compound V grants superhuman abilities when injected, and the power you receive is not the one you might expect — the mod's only crafting recipe produces Anti-V, a syringe that strips those abilities away again. Understanding what each dose does, and how to reverse it, is the whole game.

What Compound V Does

Compound V is a syringe-style item. Using it grants the player powers. The mod does not gate these behind a ritual, an altar, or a multiblock structure — the syringe itself is the delivery method, so the decision to take it is a single click.

Because the effects are tied to the player rather than to a block or a machine, they persist as part of your character. That matters for two reasons: you keep them across ordinary play, and you can lose them again through a second item rather than by dying or waiting out a timer.

The One Recipe You Need to Know

The mod contains exactly one crafting recipe, and it does not make Compound V. It makes the counter to it.

Read that carefully before you start brewing plans. The recipe consumes a dose of Compound V to produce Anti-V, so the cure costs you the very thing it is curing. If you want to keep a spare syringe in reserve, you need to account for the fact that crafting the antidote eats one.

The two vanilla ingredients are both obtainable in ordinary survival play. Fermented Spider Eye comes from combining a Spider Eye with Brown Mushroom and Sugar, and Glistering Melon Slice is made by surrounding a Melon Slice with Gold Nugget. Neither is rare, which means the limiting factor on Anti-V is your supply of Compound V itself, not the supporting materials.

Why Anti-V Exists

A mod that only handed out powers would be a one-way door. Anti-V is the return path. Injecting it removes the powers that Compound V gave you, putting your character back to an ordinary state.

That design has practical consequences worth planning around:

  • If you dislike the power you received, Anti-V is how you undo it.
  • If you want to try a different outcome, you need a fresh Compound V after clearing the old effect, since the antidote does not transform one power into another.
  • Because the recipe for Anti-V consumes a Compound V, keeping a stock of both means budgeting your syringes rather than treating them as disposable.

Planning Your Supply

The economy here is simple and slightly awkward: every Anti-V you craft is one Compound V you did not inject. Work out in advance whether you are experimenting or committing.

If you are still deciding which power suits you, hold back at least one Compound V as the raw material for an Anti-V, so you always have an exit. If you have settled on a power you like, there is no reason to tie up a syringe in antidote form — spend it on yourself instead.

Gather the supporting ingredients early. Fermented Spider Eye and Glistering Melon Slice are cheap, but they are also the kind of thing players forget to stock, and discovering you need an antidote while standing next to a brewing stand with no Sugar on hand is a familiar annoyance.

Common Mistakes

The most frequent error is assuming the recipe makes more Compound V. It does not. Crafting Anti-V is a net loss of one dose of Compound V, and players who queue up the recipe expecting to multiply their supply end up with less than they started with.

The second mistake is treating Anti-V as a throwaway. It is the only way back to normal, and it is competing for the same raw material as the thing that gave you powers in the first place. Treat both syringes as a matched pair rather than as a buff and a junk item.

Finally, remember that the mod's crafting content is limited to this single conversion. There is no recipe chain that produces Compound V from scratch, so however you obtain it, that supply is what you have to work with.
