Cosmopolitan: The Tub System and a Wide Integration Surface
Cosmopolitan is a food and drink mod built around its own tub blocks, with an unusually large amount of cross-mod integration. This guide covers both.
The tub is the mod's own system
Three categories belong to Cosmopolitan alone and together carry 244 recipes:
- Tub Extracting — 142 recipes
- Tub Injecting — 55 recipes
- Tub Interacting — 47 recipes
That is nearly as large as the mod's 292 crafting recipes, and it is the part you cannot get anywhere else. Extracting being roughly three times the size of injecting tells you the tub is mostly a way of taking things apart rather than combining them.
Most of the rest belongs to other mods
Cosmopolitan hooks into a remarkable number of other recipe systems:
- Create — Filling at 150 recipes, Emptying at 77, Mixing at 43, Sequenced Assembly at 8, and single Milling and Pressing entries
- Farmer's Delight — Cutting at 42 recipes and Cooking at 3
- Brewin' and Chewin' — Keg Pouring at 22 and Fermenting at 12
- Casualness Delight — Deep Frying at 3
- Frycook's Delight — Frying at 3
Create's filling and emptying alone come to 227 recipes. In a pack with Create installed, Cosmopolitan roughly doubles in size; in a pack without it, most of that list does nothing.
What that means before you install
Check what else is in your pack. This mod's ceiling depends heavily on its neighbours — the 292 crafting recipes and 244 tub recipes work standalone, but well over half the total recipe count needs another mod present.
The vanilla routes are small
Smoking and Smelting hold 6 recipes each, Campfire Cooking 5, and Smithing Transform 2. The furnace is not where this mod happens.
Items over blocks
443 pages across 320 items and 123 blocks, with no worldgen structures. Nothing here is found — it is grown, cooked and brewed.
This line is 1.20.1 only
The build is 1.5.4b on Forge for 1.20.1. There is no 1.21.1 release, so a pack on the newer line cannot include it.
Where to start
Build a tub. With 244 recipes behind it and no dependency on any other mod, it is the one part of Cosmopolitan guaranteed to work whatever else you have installed.
