How to Hide, Move, or Disable the Vanilla Crafting Guide Button in Crafting Tweaks

guide

Crafting Tweaks gives you control over the vanilla recipe book button and its related hotkeys inside crafting screens. You can hide the button entirely, shift it to a new position, or turn the button and hotkeys on and off in different combinations. This guide covers each of those options and how to operate them.

Hiding the Vanilla Crafting Guide Button

The Hide Vanilla Crafting Guide setting removes the vanilla crafting book button from the crafting interface rather than relocating it. Enable this option when you would rather not see the vanilla button at all. The setting exists because many players prefer a dedicated recipe viewer over the built-in crafting guide, so hiding the button keeps the interface clean without leaving an unused control on screen.

If you leave this setting off, the button stays visible and you can reposition it instead, as described below.

Repositioning the Button

Two settings control where the vanilla crafting guide button appears:

  • Vanilla Crafting Guide Offset X — sets the horizontal distance from the right edge when the button is repositioned.
  • Vanilla Crafting Guide Offset Y — sets the vertical distance from the top edge when the button is repositioned.

Adjust these values to move the button away from its default spot. Increasing or decreasing each offset shifts the button along that axis, letting you place it wherever it fits best alongside other interface elements. These offsets only matter when the button is being repositioned rather than hidden.

Enabling Buttons and Hotkeys Separately

A separate setting controls whether the button and its hotkeys are active at all. It accepts four values:

  • DEFAULT — both the buttons and the hotkeys are enabled.
  • BUTTONS — only the buttons are enabled.
  • HOTKEYS — only the hotkeys are enabled.
  • DISABLED — everything is turned off completely.

Choose DISABLED if you want no Crafting Tweaks button or hotkey behavior in crafting screens. Choose BUTTONS or HOTKEYS if you want one input method but not the other. Choose DEFAULT to keep both working.

Disabling Support for Other Mods

If another mod's interface conflicts with Crafting Tweaks, you can add that mod's id to a list of mods for which Crafting Tweaks support is turned off. Entries in this list are written in the form modid:name. Adding an entry prevents Crafting Tweaks from applying its behavior to items or screens associated with that mod.

Several other Crafting Tweaks features interact with crafting screens and are worth knowing while you configure the guide button:

  • Transfer Stack — moves items to the crafting grid.
  • Crafts Stack — right-clicking the result slot in a crafting table crafts a full stack when the corresponding option is enabled.
  • Force Clear Info — allows items to be dropped when necessary.
  • Compress Requires Crafting Grid — controls whether the compress feature needs a crafting grid to function.
  • Compress Outside Crafting GUIs — a setting you can turn off if you want the compress and decompress feature to work outside crafting interfaces; this only applies when the mod is present on the server while you are in your player inventory.
  • Compress Exclusions — a list of modid:name entries for items that the compress key should not craft.

For any of these actions that are triggered by a key rather than a button, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu if you want to change it.

Putting It Together

To fully remove the vanilla crafting guide button, enable Hide Vanilla Crafting Guide. To keep it but move it, leave hiding off and adjust the X and Y offsets. To shut down Crafting Tweaks buttons and hotkeys entirely, set the enable mode to DISABLED, or pick BUTTONS or HOTKEYS to keep just one. Finally, use the mod id list if a specific mod needs Crafting Tweaks support turned off.
