Every Create Big Cannons Recipe Made at a Crafting Table

guide

Most of Create Big Cannons runs through casting, boring and mechanical crafting, but sixty-eight of its recipes are plain crafting-table work, and those are the ones you need before any of the machinery exists. This is the workbench half of the mod: the tools that build cannons, the mounts they sit on, the ammunition they fire and the fuzes that make it go off.

Tools that build cannons

Four items do the actual manufacturing, and all four are built around Create components:

  • Cannon Builder - two iron nuggets and an Iron Sheet across the top, an Andesite Casing in the centre, a Piston Extension Pole below it.
  • Cannon Drill - Iron Ingot on top, a Fluid Pipe either side of an Andesite Casing, a Piston Extension Pole below.
  • Cannon Welder - a Copper Valve Handle and Iron Sheet on the top row, Brass Sheet either side of a Blaze Burner, and one more Brass Sheet below.
  • Cannon Loader - the cheapest of the four: Gunpowder over an Andesite Casing over a Piston Extension Pole.

The loader needs a head to be useful. Ram Head is Oak Planks over a Piston Extension Pole, and Worm Head is three Iron Bars over a Piston Extension Pole. The handheld versions add two sticks below: Ram Rod is a Ram Head on a shaft of two Stick, and Worm is a Worm Head on the same.

Casting needs sand. Casting Sand is shapeless: two Sand, one Dirt and one Clay Ball. The Basin Foundry Lid is four Andesite Alloy, one on the top row and three below it.

Mounts and moving parts

  • Cannon Mount - Iron Sheet, Shaft, Iron Sheet on top; Shaft, Andesite Casing, Shaft in the middle; Gunpowder, Shaft, Gunpowder along the bottom.
  • Fixed Cannon Mount - a cut-down version: Iron Sheet on top, then Gunpowder, Andesite Casing, Gunpowder.
  • Cannon Mount Extension - Shaft top and bottom with Gunpowder, Andesite Casing, Gunpowder between them.
  • Cannon Carriage - a Shaft and Oak Planks on top, three more Oak Planks across the middle, and a Pair of Cannon Wheels at each bottom corner.
  • Pair of Cannon Wheels - four Iron Sheet in a diamond around a Dark Oak Log, giving two wheels per craft.
  • Quick-Firing Mechanism - a Lever above a Cogwheel and Large Cogwheel.

Breech parts are made from whichever metal you are working in. A Sliding Breechblock in bronze, cast iron or steel is that metal on the top and bottom of the centre column with a Cogwheel to either side of a third ingot. Screw Lock parts in steel and nethersteel are a Shaft over three ingots of the matching metal.

Ammunition

Big cannon projectiles almost all follow the same silhouette, a nose of dense metal over an Oak Slab base:

Shot Balls are eight iron nuggets around an Iron Ingot and come out two at a time, which is what makes grapeshot and flak affordable.

Autocannon ammunition is smaller and cheaper:

Propellant

Propellant is where a lot of new players stall, because the two halves are made separately.

Gunpowder itself can be split and rejoined. One Gunpowder becomes nine Pinch of Gunpowder, and nine pinches press back into one Gunpowder, which lets you stretch a small supply across recipes that only need a fraction.

Fuzes

All seven fuzes are crafting-table items, and they are cheap enough to make in bulk:

Tracer Tip is shapeless too: glowstone dust plus Blaze Powder, four at a time.

Wrought iron and log cannon blocks

The two starter cannon materials skip casting entirely and are crafted directly:

Metals and utilities

The four cannon metals all follow the vanilla pattern: nine nuggets or scrap make an ingot, nine ingots make a block, and both steps reverse. That covers Bronze Ingot and Bronze Scrap, Cast Iron Ingot and Cast Iron Nugget, Steel Ingot and Steel Scrap, and Nethersteel Ingot and Nethersteel Nugget.

Two utility items round out the list. Gas Mask is Leather on top, Leather either side of glass, White Wool below, and it protects your head against gas clouds. Block Armor Inspection Tool is a Precision Mechanism over a Recoil Spring over Iron Bars, and it reports the Toughness and Hardness of any block you point it at, which is how you find out whether a wall will actually stop a shell.
