Engineering Metal Catwalks and Railings in Create Deco
Industrial metal sheets and structural metal bars combine to form walkable metal catwalks across six alloy tiers in Create Deco. These modular industrial platforms allow engineers to construct elevated maintenance bridges, perimeter fences, and stairways around complex kinetic machinery.
Supported Metal Tiers and Metal Bars
Create Deco supports six industrial metals for structural metalwork:
- Andesite Alloy
- Brass
- Copper
- Industrial Iron
- Iron
- Zinc
Every catwalk system requires structural metal bars. Arranging 6 metal ingots or alloys in two horizontal rows of 3 within a crafting table crafts 16 metal bars, such as
Andesite Bars,
Brass Bars,
Copper Bars,
Industrial Iron Bars, or
Zinc Bars. Alternatively, a single metal ingot placed in a stonecutter yields metal bars directly.
Assembling Catwalks, Railings, and Stairs
Catwalk components are engineered from metal plates and structural bars:
- Catwalk platforms: Arranging 4 metal plates and 1 metal bars block in a cross pattern (with the bars in the center and plates above, below, and on both sides) crafts 4 catwalk blocks, such as
Andesite Catwalk,
Brass Catwalk, or
Industrial Iron Catwalk. Catwalk platforms have transparent grate textures that allow light to pass through while providing a solid walking surface. - Catwalk railings: Placing 3 metal plates across the top row and 4 metal bars in the bottom two rows (leaving the center column empty) crafts 8 catwalk railings, such as
Andesite Catwalk Railing. Railings automatically connect along edges to prevent players and workers from falling into spinning gears or crushing wheels below. - Catwalk stairs: Combining 2 catwalk blocks with 1 metal bars block crafts 2 catwalk stairs, such as
Andesite Catwalk Stairs. These stairs allow seamless vertical transitions between machine floor levels.
In addition to crafting table recipes, catwalks, railings, and stairs can be shaped directly in a stonecutter from single metal ingots, providing flexibility when fine-tuning factory layouts.
Structural Supports and Bracing Wedges
Elevated bridges and overhead catwalks require realistic physical supports:
- Structural supports: Arranging 4 metal ingots or alloy items in a diamond pattern within a crafting grid crafts 4 structural support blocks, such as
Andesite Support. These modular beam columns connect vertically to form heavy load-bearing pillars under elevated train tracks and platforms. - Support wedges: Arranging 3 metal plates in a stair pattern crafts 3 support wedge blocks, such as
Andesite Support Wedge. Wedges attach to column joints and ceiling corners to form angled gusset plates, reinforcing wall-to-floor junctions and adding industrial depth to massive factory halls.
