Copper Floor Oxidation and Waxing Guide for Create: Design n' Decor
Copper Floor blocks in Create: Design n' Decor move through four visual stages, and every stage can be frozen in place with wax. This guide covers the full chain from the first
Copper Floor to the final
Waxed Weathered Copper Floor, including how to reverse oxidation and how to lock each look permanently.
Starting the Chain
The chain begins at a stonecutter. Cutting a
Copper Ingot on a stonecutter produces one
Copper Floor. This is the only entry point into the chain, so any copper floor project starts with ingots and a stonecutter rather than a crafting table.
From there, the block oxidizes through three further stages:
Exposed Copper Floor,
Weathered Copper Floor, and finally
Oxidized Copper Floor. Each stage is a distinct block with its own recipe entries, and each one can be waxed individually.
Reversing Oxidation with a Diamond Axe
Oxidation is not a one-way trip. A Deployer holding a
Diamond Axe can scrape a floor back one stage at a time:
Exposed Copper Floor +
Diamond Axe ->
Copper Floor
Weathered Copper Floor +
Diamond Axe ->
Exposed Copper Floor
Oxidized Copper Floor +
Diamond Axe ->
Weathered Copper Floor
This means you can step a fully oxidized floor back down the ladder one stage per deployment, or push a fresh floor forward and then pull it back if you overshoot the look you wanted.
Waxing to Lock a Stage
Waxing preserves whatever stage a floor is currently in. There are two ways to apply wax, and both work on the unwaxed versions of every stage.
The first is a shapeless craft:
Copper Floor +
Honeycomb ->
Waxed Copper Floor
Exposed Copper Floor +
Honeycomb ->
Waxed Exposed Copper Floor
Weathered Copper Floor +
Honeycomb ->
Waxed Weathered Copper Floor
The second uses a Deployer with a
Honeycomb Block instead of a loose honeycomb:
Copper Floor +
Honeycomb Block ->
Waxed Copper Floor
Exposed Copper Floor +
Honeycomb Block ->
Waxed Exposed Copper Floor
Weathered Copper Floor +
Honeycomb Block ->
Waxed Weathered Copper Floor
Pick whichever suits your setup. A crafting grid is fine for a handful of blocks, while a Deployer with a
Honeycomb Block handles bulk waxing on a line.
Unwaxing a Floor
Wax can be removed again, and the tool for the job is the same
Diamond Axe. Deploying a
Diamond Axe onto a waxed floor returns it to its unwaxed form at the same oxidation stage:
Waxed Copper Floor +
Diamond Axe ->
Copper Floor
Waxed Exposed Copper Floor +
Diamond Axe ->
Exposed Copper Floor
Waxed Weathered Copper Floor +
Diamond Axe ->
Weathered Copper Floor
Note that scraping a waxed block strips the wax first; it does not skip ahead to a different oxidation stage in the same pass. Once the wax is gone, a second pass with the axe will begin stepping the block back down the oxidation ladder.
Planning a Build
Because waxing and scraping both work stage by stage, you can treat the four oxidation levels as a palette. Produce
Copper Floor from ingots, let blocks sit until they reach the tone you want, then wax that stage so it stays put. If you change your mind later, a
Diamond Axe in a Deployer removes the wax and lets oxidation continue or lets you scrape back toward the earlier stages.
