Automating Rare Items and Valuable Loot

guide

This guide details the processes for automating rare items and valuable loot in Create: Ultimate Factory. This mod introduces new automation possibilities, making many Minecraft resources renewable, including those typically rare.

Haunting Recipes

The haunting process allows for the transformation of certain items into others, including some valuable resources. There are 6 recipes available through haunting.

  • Apple transforms into Chorus Fruit.
  • Charcoal transforms into Coal.
  • Obsidian transforms into Crying Obsidian.
  • Spider Eye transforms into Fermented Spider Eye.
  • Basalt transforms into Netherrack.
  • Poppy transforms into Wither Rose.

Compacting Recipes

Compacting recipes combine multiple ingredients, sometimes with liquids, to create new materials. This process includes methods to obtain resources like Diamond and various building blocks. There are 9 recipes available through compacting.

  • To create 2 Asurine, combine 4 Zinc Nugget, 2 Gravel, and 100 mb of minecraft:water.
  • To create 1 Blaze Rod, combine 6 Blaze Powder.
  • To create 1 Calcite, combine 1 Gravel and 3 Bone Meal.
  • To create 2 Crimsite, combine 5 Iron Nugget, 2 Gravel, and 100 mb of minecraft:lava.
  • To create 1 Deepslate, combine 1 Stone and 50 mb of minecraft:lava.
  • To create 1 Diamond, combine 9 Block of Coal and 100 mb of minecraft:lava.
  • To create 2 Ochrum, combine 2 Gold Nugget, 2 Gravel, and 100 mb of minecraft:lava.
  • To create 1 Tuff, combine 9 Cobblestone and 50 mb of minecraft:lava.
  • To create 2 Veridium, combine 7 Copper Nugget, 2 Gravel, and 100 mb of minecraft:lava.

Why haunting is the interesting one

Haunting needs Soul Fire beneath a moving item rather than a machine, which makes it the cheapest automation in the whole addon to build and the easiest to overlook. A belt, a soul campfire and a chest is the entire setup, and it runs continuously without power once the belt is turning.

That matters because haunting is how this addon makes several of its rare outputs renewable. An item that previously required a structure or a mob drop becomes something a belt produces while you are elsewhere.

Compacting the expensive things

Compacting covers the other half of the rare-item list, and it behaves differently: it wants a basin under a Mechanical Press, and it consumes the exact ingredients each time. Because rare inputs are by definition in short supply, build the compacting station with a filtered input rather than a raw belt feed, so a mis-delivered stack cannot be pressed into something you did not want.

Running both unattended

The two processes pair well. Haunting is slow, continuous and cheap; compacting is fast, batched and expensive. Feeding a haunting belt from a bulk storage and letting its output accumulate into the compacting basin gives you a line that converts common material into rare material overnight, with no player interaction beyond restocking the input.

Keep an overflow on the haunting output. A soul-fire belt does not stop when the destination chest fills, and items that back up onto the belt will simply be re-processed or lost.
