Finding Forest and Jungle Villages

guide

This guide details how to locate all village types in Forest and Jungle biomes when using the ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village (CTOV) mod. CTOV enhances and adds new villages and pillager outposts, with each variant designed to fit its specific terrain, theme, and biome.

Jungle Biome Villages

Jungle biomes can host several types of villages, varying in size and style. To find these, explore areas marked with the #minecraft:is_jungle tag.

  • Jungle Village (Large): A larger village variant found within jungle biomes.
  • Jungle Tree Village (Large): A larger village variant that generates as a tree village within jungle biomes.
  • Jungle Village (Medium): A medium-sized village variant found within jungle biomes.
  • Jungle Tree Village (Medium): A medium-sized village variant that generates as a tree village within jungle biomes.

Dark Forest Biome Villages

Dark Forest biomes feature specific village types. To discover these, look in biomes that are tagged with #minecraft:has_structure/woodland_mansion.

  • Dark Forest Village (Large): A larger village variant found in dark forest biomes.
  • Dark Forest Village (Medium): A medium-sized village variant found in dark forest biomes.

The jungle gets two completely different villages

Forested biomes are the most varied part of the catalogue. The jungle carries both a ground-level Jungle Village and a separate Jungle Tree Village built up into the canopy — these are distinct structure entries, not two names for one build — and the Dark Forest Village is a third type again.

Why none of them has a spacing value

Every one of the mod's 78 structures generates without spacing or separation because they take the place of vanilla villages rather than sitting on their own grid. There is no search pattern to fly; find a village normally and it will be one of these.

Large variants are separate builds

Most types list a (Large) entry alongside the standard one, so a jungle can produce either size independently.

The mod adds nothing else

Zero items, zero blocks, zero recipes. Everything inside is vanilla or from the rest of your modlist.

Practical difference from vanilla

The canopy build is the one that changes how you approach a village. Paths and workstations sit at multiple heights rather than on one ground plane, so villager pathing, bed placement and any farm you add have to account for vertical layout in a way a vanilla village never demands.
