Finding All Village Variants in Mountain and Badlands Biomes
ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village (CTOV) adds many new villages to your Minecraft world, each designed to fit the specific biome and terrain where it appears. This guide explains how to locate all village variants found within Mountain and Badlands biomes.
Mountain Biome Villages
Mountain biomes can generate two distinct styles of villages, each appearing in different sizes.
- Japanese Village: You can find this village style in mountain biomes. It generates as both a Japanese Village(Large) and a Japanese Village(Medium).
- Alpine Village: This village style also appears in mountain biomes. It generates as both an Alpine Village(Large) and an Alpine Village(Medium).
Badlands Biome Villages
Badlands biomes feature two unique village types, including a fortified variant.
- Badlands Village: This village style generates in badlands biomes and is found as a Badlands Village(Large).
- Badlands Fortified Village: A more protected village variant, the Badlands Fortified Village(Large), also generates specifically within badlands biomes.
Badlands is the only biome with a fortified build
The badlands carries two separate entries — a standard Badlands Village and a Badlands Fortified Village built with defences — which makes it the one biome in the catalogue where the same terrain can produce a normal settlement or a defended one. The mountain side is covered by the Alpine Village.
No spacing values, and that is deliberate
None of the 78 structures in this mod has a spacing or separation figure, because they substitute for vanilla village generation rather than generating alongside it. You cannot fly a search grid for them; you find a village the ordinary way.
Both sizes exist
Standard and (Large) variants are listed as separate entries throughout, badlands and alpine included.
No craftable content
The mod ships no items, blocks or recipes at all — its entire contribution is the 78 builds.
Building on slopes
Both alpine and badlands terrain force these villages onto uneven ground, and the builds are shaped for it — terraced foundations and stepped paths rather than the flat plane a vanilla village assumes. If you plan to extend one, match the terracing rather than levelling the hill, or the addition will read as a separate settlement.
