Cyclic Charms and Accessories: Passive Buffs and Protections
Cyclic charms and accessories provide passive buffs and protections while simply sitting in your inventory or equipped in a dedicated slot. Most of these items work automatically once you obtain them, requiring no activation or upkeep beyond keeping them on hand. Several of them gain extra convenience when the Curios mod is present, since that mod allows them to occupy a wearable accessory slot rather than taking up ordinary inventory space.
The Charm Talisman
The
Charm Talisman is a combined protective item. While it is in your inventory or worn as an accessory, it bundles together the defensive benefits of four separate charms: the
Antidote Charm, the
Wither Charm, the
Fire Charm, and the
Void Charm. In other words, carrying this single item gives you the same coverage those four items would provide individually. If the Curios mod is installed, the
Charm Talisman can be worn as an accessory.
Fire Protection
The
Fire Charm shields you from fire damage. This protection is not free: the charm consumes durability as it absorbs hits for you, so it will eventually wear out with use. Like the other charms here, it functions either from your inventory or while worn as an accessory. With the Curios mod installed, it can be equipped in an accessory slot.
Void Rescue
The
Void Charm handles one specific and often fatal situation: falling into the void. It works whether it sits in your inventory or occupies a Baubles slot. The charm watches your position, and if you drop below y=-30, it intervenes by teleporting you high into the sky instead of letting you fall out of the world. This makes it a strong safety net for anyone building or traveling near the bottom of the map.
Waterbreathing Charm
The
Waterbreathing Charm addresses drowning. Once your air supply runs out, this charm prevents the drowning damage that would normally follow. It keeps working as long as you carry it. If the Curios mod is installed, it can be worn as an accessory.
Silkweave Slippers
The
Silkweave Slippers remove several common sources of environmental damage. You become immune to fall damage, and you also take no damage from cacti or sweet berry bushes. These are passive effects that apply while you have the slippers. With the Curios mod installed, they can be worn as an accessory.
Speed Charm
The
Speed Charm grants a passive movement speed increase. By default this boost is 50 percent, though the exact value depends on the config file. The effect stacks with speed potions, so it can be combined with other sources of speed for a larger total. If you want to switch the boost off, right click the charm while it is in your inventory. As with the other items, installing the Curios mod lets you wear it as an accessory.
Choosing What to Carry
Each of these items solves a different problem. The
Charm Talisman covers several protections at once, making it a compact choice when inventory space matters. The
Fire Charm trades durability for fire resistance. The
Void Charm guards against one catastrophic fall. The
Waterbreathing Charm and
Silkweave Slippers remove drowning and common environmental damage respectively, while the
Speed Charm improves mobility and can be toggled whenever you like. Because most of them function from inside your inventory, you can benefit from them without dedicating equipment slots, and with the Curios mod installed you can wear them as accessories instead.
