Cyclic Carrots: Permanent Horse Upgrades Explained

guide

Cyclic adds a set of carrots that permanently upgrade your horse's abilities. Each carrot targets one specific trait, and feeding the same carrot repeatedly stacks the improvement. The effects are permanent, so a horse keeps its boosted stats and special traits once a carrot has been applied.

Stat-Boosting Carrots

Three carrots raise a horse's core stats. Each one can be fed multiple times to push the stat higher.

  • Diamond Carrot: Raises the horse's maximum health. Feed more than one to keep raising that cap.
  • Emerald Carrot: Raises how high the horse can jump. Repeated use increases the jump height further.
  • Redstone Carrot: Raises the horse's top speed. Using several pushes the speed ceiling up each time.

Because each carrot stacks with itself, you can specialize a horse around one stat or spread several carrots across different stats. The upgrades are permanent, so there is no need to reapply them later.

Protective Carrots

Two carrots grant lasting defensive traits rather than stat increases.

  • Netherite Carrot: Makes the horse permanently immune to fire, lava, hot floors such as magma blocks, ghast and blaze fireballs, and lightning. The immunity applies to the horse only. A rider sitting on the horse is not protected by this effect.
  • Prismarine Carrot: Permanently lets the horse breathe underwater, swim at the faster pace associated with dolphins, stay mounted while swimming instead of forcing the rider off, and move faster when exposed to open sky during rain. The horse also cannot drown.

The Prismarine Carrot covers both survival and mobility in water. The Netherite Carrot covers heat and electrical hazards. Both are one-time permanent grants rather than stackable stat boosts.

The Ender Carrot

The Ender Carrot gives a horse magical shields. These shields activate automatically when the mount is in danger. The trigger conditions are drowning, falling, burning, or running low on health. When a shield triggers, it uses up one tick of the count and applies a buff to the mount that matches the situation.

Because the shields fire on their own, the Ender Carrot works as a safety net rather than something you activate manually. Each trigger consumes part of the shield count, so the protection is limited by how many ticks remain.

Using the Carrots

Apply each carrot directly to a horse. Stat carrots can be used again and again on the same animal to keep stacking their effect. The Netherite Carrot, Prismarine Carrot, and Ender Carrot grant their special traits permanently, so a single application is enough for those abilities.

Plan around what each horse is for. A horse meant for travel benefits from Redstone Carrot and Emerald Carrot stacking, while a horse taken into dangerous terrain benefits more from the protective carrots. Since the stat carrots stack, you can keep feeding them until the horse reaches the performance you want.
