Cyclic Handheld Tools, Scepters, and Utility Items Guide

guide

Cyclic handheld tools, scepters, and utility items for exploration and combat cover a range of gear that solves problems ordinary equipment cannot. Some pieces move you across the map, others reshape how you mine, and a few simply fetch things for you. This guide covers each item and what it does.

Wrench

The Wrench is a configuration tool rather than a weapon. Using it on cables makes them extract. If you crouch and then use it, the same cables become blocked instead. That single item therefore gives you direct control over how a cable network behaves, letting you switch a connection between pulling resources out and refusing to pass anything through.

Ender Scepter

The Ender Scepter teleports you to wherever you are looking. It does not run on nothing: Ender Pearls serve as its fuel. Because the destination is decided by your line of sight, the scepter rewards aiming before you activate it. Keep a supply of pearls on hand if you plan to rely on it while exploring.

Rod of Elevation

The Rod of Elevation moves things upward. You can use it on yourself, or on a target entity, and it teleports the subject to the nearest surface above. This makes it useful for escaping a cave, a pit, or any spot where the way out is directly overhead rather than off to the side. Since it works on entities as well as the player, it can also reposition a creature that is standing in the wrong place.

Obsidian Mattock

The Obsidian Mattock is a hybrid mining tool. It functions as equal parts shovel and pickaxe, so it handles both dirt-type and stone-type material. On top of that, it mines in a 3x3 area rather than a single block. The combination means one tool clears a wide swath of mixed terrain without swapping items, which saves both inventory space and time on large digging projects.

Boomerang

The Boomerang is a gathering tool. You throw it, and it collects items before returning to you. Instead of running across a field to pick up scattered drops one at a time, you can toss the boomerang and let it bring the loot back. It pairs naturally with the 3x3 mining of the Obsidian Mattock, since wide mining produces wide spreads of drops.

Spawner Seeker

The Spawner Seeker searches out the nearest dungeon spawner. When you need to locate a spawner rather than stumble onto one, this item points you toward the closest one it can find. It is an exploration aid first and foremost, useful for planning a route toward a dungeon instead of wandering.

Putting the Set Together

These items divide into a few clear roles. The Wrench manages cables. The Ender Scepter and Rod of Elevation both handle movement, one by line of sight and one straight up to the surface. The Obsidian Mattock and Boomerang cover mining and collecting. The Spawner Seeker handles discovery. Which ones you carry depends on whether your current goal is travel, resource gathering, or hunting down a dungeon, and several of them complement each other when used in the same trip.
