Adjusting Diet Mod Penalties, Food Quality Overrides, and Unclassified Item Grouping
Diet tracks what you eat and applies bonuses or penalties based on the variety of foods consumed. This guide covers the settings that control how harshly the mod penalizes you, how individual foods can be revalued, and how items without a defined group are handled.
Death Penalties
When you die, your diet groups can take a hit. Three settings control exactly how much you lose and how the loss is calculated.
- Death penalty percent loss sets how much of a reduction is applied across every diet group when you die.
- Minimum percent after death penalty puts a floor on that reduction, so groups can never drop below the percentage you specify.
- Death penalty method decides how the loss is applied. The available choices are:
- AMOUNT — subtract a fixed percentage value.
- PERCENT — subtract a percentage of whatever the current value is.
- RESET — send the value all the way back to its default.
Gain and Decay Adjustments
Eating several food groups at the same time makes each one worth less, and letting multiple groups decay at once slows that decay down. Two settings tune this behavior.
- Gain penalty per food group — the more diet groups you consume in one go, the more the total gain is reduced, expressed as a percentage per group.
- Decay slowdown per food group — the more diet groups decaying simultaneously, the more the total decay is reduced, expressed as a percentage per group.
Food Quality Overrides
Not every food has to follow its default diet value. Food quality overrides lets you assign your own quality value to specific items. Entries follow the format `modid:name;quality` — the item's identifier followed by the quality you want it to have. Use this when you want a particular food to count for more or less than the mod would normally give it.
Unclassified Items
Some items don't belong to any diet group out of the box. Generate food groups for unclassified items changes that: when enabled, the mod looks at an item's ingredients and assigns food groups based on what went into it. Leave it off if you prefer unclassified items to stay unclassified.
Tooltip Visibility
Hide tooltips for uneaten items keeps food group tooltips out of sight until you've actually eaten that item type. Turn it on if you'd rather discover a food's groups by trying it, or off if you want full information upfront.
Interface Options
A few settings control how the Diet interface itself appears.
- Button appears in inventory — when enabled, a button opening the Diet GUI is added to player inventories.
- Button horizontal position — sets the x-coordinate of that button inside the inventory screen.
- Button vertical position — sets the y-coordinate of that button inside the inventory screen.
- Diet menu text color — the main text color used in the Diet GUI, entered as either an integer or a hexadecimal value.
Tracking and Data
Diet tracking can be paused and resumed per group, and individual group values can be adjusted directly. You can set a group's value, raise it, lower it, or reset it to default, and you can also clear dietary effects entirely. To operate any of these, use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu).
Exporting your diet information is also available. Once started, the mod writes the data out and finishes by saving it to `logs/diet.csv`.
