Configuring the Diet GUI Button Position, Visibility, and Menu Text Color
The Diet mod's on-screen interface can be adjusted to suit your preferences, including where its inventory button sits, whether that button shows up at all, and what color the menu's main text uses. These options are changed through the mod's settings interface rather than by crafting anything.
Button Placement
Two settings control where the Diet button appears inside player inventories.
- Button horizontal position — sets the left-to-right coordinate of the Diet GUI button within player inventories.
- Button vertical position — sets the up-and-down coordinate of the Diet GUI button within player inventories.
Adjust these values to move the button to a spot that doesn't overlap other interface elements. The exact input method depends on the interface, but each setting corresponds to a numeric position.
Button Visibility
- Button appears in inventory — when turned on, a button leading to the Diet GUI is shown in player inventories. When turned off, that button is not displayed.
If you prefer a cleaner inventory screen, disable this option. You can still reach the Diet GUI through its other access method.
Menu Text Color
- Diet menu text color — determines the primary text color used throughout the Diet GUI. The value can be given either as a plain integer or in hexadecimal form.
Enter your preferred color value in whichever format the setting accepts. This changes the main text color of the menu.
Related Diet Settings
The same settings area includes other options that affect how diet tracking behaves. These are separate from the button and color options but are configured in the same place.
- Natural Regeneration — toggles natural regeneration behavior.
- Minimum percent after death penalty — the lowest percentage that diet groups can drop to when you die.
- Death penalty percent loss — how much all diet groups are reduced when you die.
- Death penalty method — chooses how death losses are applied. AMOUNT subtracts a flat percentage. PERCENT subtracts a share of the current value. RESET returns values to their defaults.
- Gain penalty per food group — the percentage by which total gain is reduced for each diet group eaten at the same time.
- Decay slowdown per food group — the percentage by which total decay is reduced for each diet group decaying at the same time.
- Food quality overrides — lets you set diet gain values for specific foods. The format is "modid:name;quality".
- Generate food groups for unclassified items — when on, food groups are assigned to unclassified items according to their ingredients.
- Hide tooltips for uneaten items — when on, food group tooltips stay hidden until you have eaten that kind of item.
Status and Feedback Messages
The mod reports the result of various actions through on-screen messages. These include confirmations that a value was set, increased, or decreased for a group, that diet values were reset, that tracking was paused or resumed, and that dietary effects were cleared. It also reports when an export of diet information starts and when it finishes, writing the output to logs/diet.csv. If a group name isn't recognized, it displays "Unknown diet group:".
Operating the Interface
Open the settings interface to reach these options. Move through the available entries, select the one you want, and enter or toggle its value. For the position fields, supply the coordinate you want. For the color field, supply an integer or hexadecimal value. For the visibility toggle, switch it on or off. Changes apply to the Diet GUI button and menu text as described above.
If a hotkey is associated with opening the interface, use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) rather than assuming a default.
