World Generation

feature

Overview

Distant Horizons can generate level of detail terrain beyond the normal render distance, creating a rough surface estimate first and then filling in individual chunks to add features like trees and structures. The feature offers several generation modes, letting players choose between surface-and-chunk generation, surface only, chunks only, or disabling it entirely, depending on their hardware or world type. Generation progress, speed, and warnings can be shown on screen, and generation may pause automatically when the server thread is overloaded or the camera moves quickly to reduce lag. Various settings control the complexity and scope of generation, including request rate limits and maximum request distance.
