Customizing NeoForge's Early Loading Screen and Drippy Fade Behavior

guide

Drippy Loading Screen replaces the standard game loading display with a layout you build yourself, and its settings also cover the plain window NeoForge shows before that layout appears. Everything here is handled through the mod's interface and its hotkeys rather than through crafting or items.

Opening the Customization Interface

A button labelled CLICK HERE TO CUSTOMIZE! opens the editing tools. That button is attached to FancyMenu's menu bar, so if you prefer a cleaner screen, hide the menu bar and the button goes with it. The Customize Loading Screen entry is where the layout work happens.

Working With the Early Loading Screen

The early screen is the bare window NeoForge displays before Drippy takes over. Selecting Customize EARLY Loading Screen lets you change it, but only when the Drippy Early Loading Module is present. Without that module you get a module missing notice telling you the dependency is required. Once it is in place you can adjust:

  • Set Early Loading Window Size to control the dimensions of that first window.
  • Set Early Loading Window Title to change the text shown in its title bar.
  • Early Loading Preview to see how the early screen will look.

Fading and Texture Handling

Fade-In/Out Loading Screen makes the loading display fade in and out the way the vanilla one does. Keep in mind it only fades in during a resource reload. Early Fade-Out Elements decides whether the individual elements on the screen begin disappearing before the background does.

Wait For Textures in Loading makes the mod hold the screen until textures are ready, which stops them from flickering during a resource reload. If you notice the game freezing, turn this off.

Backgrounds, Logos, and Bars

The background can be a flat colour or an image. Configure Color Background exposes a Color [HEX] field; enter a valid hex value, because an invalid color warning appears if the value is not usable. Set Background Image picks the picture, and Preserve Background Aspect Ratio keeps its proportions intact, with Restore Aspect Ratio returning it to the original shape.

For the progress bar you can supply Set Bar Background Image and Set Bar Progress Image, or use Vanilla-Like Game Loading Bar, which mirrors the vanilla appearance. That bar only reports genuine progress when it sits inside a Drippy layout. A separate Loading Progress [Percent] element prints the current percentage.

You can also place a logo and a watermark, moving each with Set Logo Position Offset, Set Watermark Position Offset, and Set Watermark Size after choosing the watermark picture with Set Watermark Image. The bar's placement is adjusted through Set Bar Position Offset.

Layout Application

Allow Universal Layouts controls whether universal layouts are applied to the loading screen at all.

Hotkeys

Actions such as centering, confirming, or toggling elements are triggered with the corresponding hotkey, which you assign yourself in the controls menu. No key is bound for you, so set the ones you want before relying on them.
