Exploring End Structures in Dungeons and Taverns

guide

This guide details the new structures found in the End dimension, including castles, lighthouses, and ships, added by Dungeons and Taverns. These structures are designed to blend with the existing game environment.

End Castle

The End Castle is a new structure that generates within the End dimension. Specifically, it appears in areas defined as #nova_structures:collections/end. When an End Castle generates, it takes over the mob spawning rules for monsters in its vicinity.

End Lighthouse

The End Lighthouse is another structure that can be found in the End. It generates in locations that already contain a vanilla End City structure, designated by #minecraft:has_structure/end_city. For its placement, the game attempts to generate one End Lighthouse within every 40x40 chunk region. These lighthouses are placed so that each one is at least 22 chunks away from any other End Lighthouse.

End Ship

The End Ship is a unique structure that generates in the outer regions of the End dimension. These ships appear in areas defined as #nova_structures:collections/outer_end. Similar to the End Lighthouse, the game attempts to place one End Ship within every 40x40 chunk region. Each End Ship is positioned at least 10 chunks away from other End Ship structures.

The End set within a catalogue of 97

Dungeons and Taverns places 97 structures in total, adding no items, blocks or recipes of its own. Its End entries sit in the middle of that catalogue's rarity range:

  • End Lighthouse — spacing 40, separation 22
  • End Ship — spacing 40, separation 10
  • End Castle — placed without standard spacing values, so it follows its own rules

Reading the separations

Both End structures share a spacing of 40 but differ sharply in separation: 22 for the lighthouse against 10 for the ship. The practical effect is that ships can generate much closer to one another than lighthouses can, so an area with one ship may well hold another, while lighthouses are spread evenly.

Searching the End

Because these are surface structures on End islands, flying with a high render distance is the only efficient method — the terrain gives no cues and there is nothing underground to follow.

What you get

The mod adds no gear of its own, so everything you take out of these builds is vanilla loot or loot from other mods in your pack. Clear structures fully rather than skimming; at spacing 40 the next one is a long way off.

Version note

The 1.21.1 build is v4.4.4 and the 1.20.1 build is 3.0.3.f, and both are pure structure sets.
