Finding Structures in the Nether

This guide explains how to locate various structures added by Dungeons and Taverns within the Nether dimension.

Nether Keeps and Ports

Two structures, the Nether Keep and the Nether Port, are found in the Nether. Both of these structures generate within regions that also contain vanilla Nether Fortresses.

To find a Nether Keep or a Nether Port:

• Look in areas where Nether Fortresses normally appear.
• Each structure attempts to generate once per 85x85 chunk region.
• They will be placed at least 40 chunks apart from other instances of the same structure.
• Both the Nether Keep and Nether Port modify the default monster spawning behavior within their areas.

Nether Skeleton Towers

There are four types of Nether Skeleton Towers, each found in specific Nether biomes. These towers attempt to generate once per 40x40 chunk region, with at least 20 chunks separating each tower from another of its kind.

The different types of Nether Skeleton Towers and their locations are:

• Nether Skeleton Tower Crimson: Found in Crimson Forests.
• Nether Skeleton Tower Soul: Found in Soul Sand Valleys.
• Nether Skeleton Tower Warped: Found in Warped Forests.
• Nether Skeleton Tower Waste: Found in Nether Wastes.

Reading rarity across 97 structures

Dungeons and Taverns places 97 structures and gives them individually tuned placement, so "rare" and "common" mean specific things here. The full range in the catalogue runs from the Deepslate Camp at spacing 15 to the Conduit Ruin at spacing 140 with separation 90.

Against that scale, most Nether builds sit in the middle band alongside the Bunker (50) and Desert Ruins (80).

What the mod does and does not add

It adds no items, no blocks and no recipes — 97 structures and nothing else. Everything you carry out of a Nether fortification comes from vanilla loot tables or from other mods.

This is why the mod pairs well with content mods and feels thin without them: it supplies places, not things.

Finding them

Nether structures generate in the surface-structures step, which in the Nether means along the terrain rather than deep in it. Flying with fire resistance is the efficient sweep; the roof is not usable for spotting them.

Both builds — v4.4.4 on 1.21.1 and 3.0.3.f on 1.20.1 — are structure-only sets with no recipes to differ.
