Enchantment Descriptions Supported Mods and Their Enchantments

guide

Enchantment Descriptions shows a short explanation for each enchantment on an item, and it also covers enchantments added by other mods. To read a description, hold shift while viewing an enchanted item. The sections below list the supported mods and the enchantment effects each one contributes.

Vanilla Enchantment Descriptions

The base game's enchantments are all covered. Protection reduces damage from most sources. Fire Protection reduces fire damage and the time you burn. Feather Falling reduces fall damage and ender pearl teleportation damage. Blast Protection reduces explosion damage and knockback. Projectile Protection reduces damage from arrows and fireballs. Respiration lets you breathe longer underwater, while Aqua Affinity speeds up mining while submerged.

Thorns damages enemies that hit you. Sharpness raises item damage. Smite raises damage against undead like Zombies and Skeletons, and Bane of Arthropods raises damage against Spiders and Silverfish. Knockback increases weapon knockback, and Fire Aspect adds fire damage on hit. Looting makes mobs drop more loot. Efficiency speeds up tool mining, Silk Touch collects fragile blocks like glass, and Unbreaking slows durability loss. Fortune can make blocks like coal and diamond ore drop extra items.

Power raises bow arrow damage, Punch raises arrow knockback, and Flame adds fire damage to arrows. Infinity lets the bow fire normal arrows for free, but you still need at least one arrow. Luck of the Sea improves fishing loot, and Lure shortens the wait for a bite. Depth Strider increases underwater movement speed, and Frost Walker freezes water under you into frosted ice. Mending repairs armor and tools with XP. Curse of Binding stops a cursed item from leaving an armor slot, and Curse of Vanishing destroys the item if you die with it.

Sweeping Edge raises sweeping attack damage. Loyalty makes a trident return after being thrown, Impaling raises damage to aquatic mobs, Riptide launches you forward in rain or water, and Channeling summons lightning during thunderstorms. Multishot fires extra arrows, Quick Charge speeds up crossbow reloads, and Piercing lets projectiles pass through mobs. Soul Speed increases speed on soul blocks, Swift Sneak increases sneaking speed, and Breach improves attacks against armored targets. Density raises attack damage based on fall distance, and Wind Burst launches you back into the air after a smash attack.

Go Fish

Go Fish adds an enchantment that cooks certain fish when you reel them in.

Shields+

Shields+ contributes several shield enchantments. One knocks back attackers and projectiles, another reflects damage at attackers, and others increase blocked damage or reduce damage taken while blocking. Further options set attackers and projectiles on fire, let you move faster while blocking, reduce shield cooldown times, and give the shield a bash attack.

Grapple Mod

Grapple Mod adds enchantments that let you run on walls, jump twice, and slide using built-up momentum.

Hunter's Return

This support adds an enchantment that increases how much boomerangs bounce off walls.

Better Archeology

Better Archeology contributes enchantments where some damage bypasses protection, more treasure types can be caught, the elytra gets a boost on takeoff, and the block below a target block is mined as well.

Deeper and Darker

Deeper and Darker adds enchantments that spread sculk nearby when you kill mobs and increase damage to sculk-based mobs.

Endless Biomes

Endless Biomes adds an enchantment where enemies that attack you may be teleported away. It also includes Shared Pain: when a mob is killed, excess damage is dealt to nearby mobs.

Stalwart Dungeons

Stalwart Dungeons gives hammers the ability to summon lightning.

Dungeons Enchantments

Dungeons Enchantments adds a large set of enchantments. Attacks can strike with lightning, slow targets, or weaken enemies temporarily. Bows may shoot explosive arrows, and arrows may deflect back at the shooter. Defeating enemies can boost defence temporarily or heal you, and being hurt temporarily increases speed. Some enchantments deal more damage at full health, more damage against illagers, or more damage on consecutive attacks. Others heal nearby players, or heal nearby players with arrows. One hurts the user but deals massive damage every fifth attack, one deals extra damage to enemies not looking at you, and one creates an explosion on attack. Being hit by projectiles can sometimes produce arrows.

Create Stuff

Create Stuff adds enchantments that let the Block Picker move and throw entities, let the Grapplin Whisk do a small burst of AOE damage, let the drill dig a bigger hole, and increase flamethrower damage while placing fire.

Improved EXP

Improved EXP contributes a long list of enchantments, including attacks that make targets glow, blocks that smelt when broken, and holding shift to spend EXP on health regeneration. Others affect movement, hunger, mining speed, and durability. Some grant buffs, extra hearts, or resistance, while others carry risks such as taking damage in warm biomes, in sunlight, in the dark, in cold biomes, deep underwater, or when too high. A few provide flight, water breathing, fire immunity, or void rescue. Some add keybind actions, such as pressing the R key to bounce backwards or thrust forward, or pressing the Z key to bonemeal nearby blocks.
