Enchantment Descriptions: Reading Enchantment Info for Supported Mods
Enchantment Descriptions adds on-screen explanations for enchantments, including those from supported mods such as Dungeons Enchantments, Improved EXP, Deeper Darker, and others. To see what an enchantment does, hold shift while viewing it. This guide covers how that control works and what the descriptions tell you.
How to View Descriptions
Hold shift to view enchantment descriptions. This is the single control the mod uses: whenever you hold shift, the description text for the enchantment appears. No menu, crafting step, or other interaction is required. If you want this action bound to a different input, set the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu.
What the Descriptions Cover
The descriptions explain enchantment effects in plain language. For vanilla enchantments, the text describes things like reduced damage from most sources, reduced fire damage and burn time, reduced fall and ender pearl teleportation damage, reduced explosion damage and knockback, and reduced projectile damage. Other entries cover breathing longer underwater, faster mining while underwater, damaging attackers, higher item damage, extra damage against undead or arthropods, increased knockback, added fire damage on attack, more mob loot, faster mining, collecting fragile blocks like glass, slower durability loss, and extra drops from blocks such as coal and diamond ore.
Bow and fishing enchantments are described too: higher arrow damage, arrow knockback, fire arrows, firing normal arrows for free as long as you have at least one arrow, better fishing loot, and shorter wait times for a bite. Further entries explain underwater movement speed, water freezing into frosted ice, repairing armor and tools with XP, curse effects that keep an item in an armor slot or destroy it on death, sweeping attack damage, trident return, extra damage to aquatic mobs, trident launching in rain or water, trident-summoned lightning, multishot arrows, faster crossbow reloads, projectile piercing, speed on soul blocks, faster sneaking, better attacks against armored targets, fall-distance-based attack damage, and smash attacks that launch you back up.
Supported Mods and Their Enchantments
Descriptions also cover enchantments added by supported mods.
