Locating and Hunting the Anklor

The primary component for shell armor comes from the Anklor, a heavily armored creature native to the outer End islands.

Anklor mobs spawn naturally within the Penumbral Forest biome, appearing in packs of 1 to 2 individuals. These sturdy beasts wander across the mossy end stone surfaces beneath dark penumbral vegetation.

When defeated, an Anklor drops:

1 to 3 Anklor Flesh upon defeat.
1 to 2 Anklor Shell Fragments upon defeat.

Hunting several Anklor yields the tough carapace fragments required for plate smithing.

Harvesting Resistive Grease

Shell fragments alone are too brittle to shape into wearable armor plates without a binding agent. That binding agent is Resistive Grease.

Resistive Grease is harvested directly from Penumbral Bulb plants growing on the trees of the Penumbral Forest. Breaking a Penumbral Bulb drops 1 Resistive Grease. In addition, dungeon chests located within Resistive Bulwark structures frequently hold jars of grease as loot.

Once collected, combine 8 Anklor Shell Fragments around 1 Resistive Grease in the center of a crafting table. This fuses the fragments into 1 solid Anklor Shell Plate.

Discovering and Duplicating the Upgrade Template

Transforming standard iron equipment into Anklor Shell gear requires an Anklor Upgrade Template.

Upgrade templates cannot be crafted from scratch; they must be salvaged from archaeological expeditions. Search the outer End islands for Arkan ruins, where loot chests hold the Anklor Upgrade Template.

Because the template is consumed upon smithing, players should duplicate it before use:

Place 1 Anklor Upgrade Template in the top center slot of a crafting table.
Place 1 Arkan stone block in the central slot.
Fill the remaining 7 crafting slots with 7 Iron Ingot items.

This crafting recipe yields 2 Anklor Upgrade Template items, allowing players to preserve their template indefinitely.

Forging the Armor in the Smithing Table
