Sawmill Carpentry & Boards Guide

guide

Operating a Sawmill maximizes lumber efficiency across novel timber species, converting raw logs into decorative boards, refined paneling, and architectural millwork. While traditional workbench crafting consumes substantial quantities of raw wood, the Sawmill functions as a precision woodworking workstation, doubling and quadrupling product yields across every timber type introduced by Environmental.

Four distinct tree species form the core of the mod's forestry selection:

  • Pine: harvested throughout cold pine barrens and mountainous slopes, featuring dark, sturdy bark and straight grain.
  • Plum: gathered from blossom woods and floral valleys, offering rich roseate planks and fruit yields.
  • Willow: found spreading across marshlands and riverbanks, providing flexible pale timber ideal for rustic builds.
  • Wisteria: flowering trees displaying drooping blossoms in white, blue, and violet hues.

Processing raw logs through the Sawmill dramatically increases output compared to manual crafting. Inserting 1 raw log of Pine, Plum, Willow, or Wisteria yields:

The machine also processes standard planks with exceptional economy. Feeding 1 wooden plank into the Sawmill yields 1 Board, 1 Button, 1 Fence, 1 Ladder, 2 Slabs, or 1 Stairs. This allows builders to produce fine architectural trim without wasting excess logs.

If a Sawmill is not immediately available, boards can also be crafted by hand on a crafting table. Stacking two matching slabs vertically in a crafting grid yields 1 matching board:

Decorative boards provide clean horizontal shiplap textures that elevate interior ceilings, flooring, and exterior siding. Combining boards with matching stairs and slabs creates detailed wall paneling and wainscoting that traditional planks cannot replicate. Complementing standard building palettes with hanging signs, wooden boats, and carved bookshelves makes the Sawmill an indispensable workstation for woodland carpentry.
